Associate j membership is open to other vet- mae—— BS 12 Master weaver to present program The Wyoming Historical and Geological Society presents their second program in their series on “Slovak Traditions.” Master weaver Sigrid Piroch, of Meadville, Pa. will present a program on Slovak tex- tiles on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Museum of Historical and Geological Society, 69 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre. textiles in Slovakia from the last century to World War I. She will focus on the various techniques and equipment used in the weav- ing and decoration of cloth and clothing, and discuss the use, function and symbolism of various textiles and their patterns, as well as how they fit into the Slovak culture. The slide lecture will be followed by a weaving demonstra- tion. This program is offered in con- junction with the “Slovak Tradi- “ tions” exhibit, which features a large collection of Slovak folk dress and folk art, and a look at Slovak immigration to the Wyoming Val-| ley. The exhibit, which will remain on display through February 8, is sponsored in part by a grant from’ the Edith L. Reynolds Trust. Congratulations were extended to Tania Atherholt for placing third in the Therapeutic Walk Trot Class and seventh in the Therapeutic Obstacle Trail Class held at the State 4-H Horse Show. Also plac- ing were Amber Atherholt, third in Hunt Seat Equitation over Fences, Jr. Division, and Melissa Valeski placed seventh in Hunter Hack. Plans were also discussed for the club to go Christmas Caroling on December 17 after which a pizza party was held at Grotto Pizza. At the Christmas party jackets were presented to seven members of the club. Thosereceiving jackets were: Haley Papps, Jessica Noon, Melissa Valeski, Amber Atherholt, Tania Atherholt, Stacie Lanning and leader Debbie Atherholt.
