Jaycees State Board meeting, held in Pittsburgh, the Back Mountain Jaycees were ranked seventh in the state out of 250 Pennsylvania Jaycee Clubs. Some of the other Jaycee chap- ters in the top 10 listing are in communities such as Hazleton, Phoenixville, and Pittsburgh. Those representing the Back Mountain Jaycees, which had the largest delegation from northeast- ern Pennsylvania, were President Mark Masitis; Chairman John J. Jablowski, Jr.; Individual Devel- opment Vice President Barbara Jablowski; Treasurer Donna Cu- pinski; District Director Karey Schleyer and Directors Mike Zdan, Dave Fiorini and Ron Ercoloni. Artisans featured at craft sale ~~ The work of artists and craftspeople from around the area and the country will be featured for sale during College Misericor- dia’s annual Christmas Craft Sale, through Nov. 18 in the MacDonald ‘Art Gallery. This collection of fine crafts and art is open to the public. The exhibition will include an exceptional variety of stained glass crystal pieces, handpainted silk scarves, original wood designs, pottery, baskets, jewelry, Victorian notes, cards, dolls, quilted items, handblown glass bowls, paintings and many other items. More than 20 craftspeople from Tennessee, New York, Scranton, Danville and other areas will be represented. Last year’s exhibition and sale was such a success that more artists have been invited and the sale has been extended to seven days, says Brian Benedetti, art gallery director. Gallery hours are Tuesday, | Wednesday, Thursday, 12-5 and 6-8 p.m.; Friday, 12-5 p.m.; Satur- day and Sunday, 1-5 p.m.; closed { Monday. Highlights from the meeting included Karen Schleyer receiving the “Outstanding District Direc- tor” designation for the month of October. Ms. Schleyer received this award for her work in affiliating the Twin Cities Chapter of the Jaycees located in the Shicksh- inny and Mocanaqua areas. John J.Jablowski, Jr., was honored with the Community Development Award for his dedicated work as chairman of the 1990 Model Legis- lature Program. The Back Mountain Chapter of the Jaycees was also named “Outstanding Governmental Af- fairs” chapter in the Common- wealth of Pennsylvania. President Masitis said, “This designation was awarded to the chapter because of our efforts toward voter registra- tion, chapter members attendance _ at Model Legislature, and through the running of the Government Outreach Program.” Jaycee membership is open to men and women from 21 to 40 years of age.
