Davis has been pro- moted to a senior vice president at First Eastern Bank according to an announcement by Richard M. Ross, Jr., chairman. Davis serves as the managing principal of First Eastern’s Capital Markets Group, a division of First Eastern’s Investment Bank. He is responsible for the management of all capital markets activities which include: public finance, securities trading, sales and operations. Prior to this position, he served as a vice president and manager of bond trading and sales in the Capital Markets Group. Davis began his banking career at First Eastern in 1979 and has held positions in Branch Administration, Market- ing, Correspondent Banking and Bank Portfolio Management. Be- fore joining the bank, he was affili- ated with the Redevelopment Au- thority of the City ofWilkes-Barre. Davis is a graduate of Wyoming Seminary and Lafayette College where he received a B.A. degree in Economics. He is registered with the Municipal Securities Rulemak- ing Board as both a municipal securities principal and municipal securities representative. He is a member of the Wyoming Valley Chapter of the American Institute of Banking, Greater- Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Com- merce Awards Committee, and the Leadership Wilkes-Barre Alumni Association. Jacobs, associate professor of business administration, has been named to the faculty in the School of Business Administration and Economics at Ashland University. Jacobs came to AU after serving as an assistant professor of man- agement at Radford (Va.) Univer- sity and Clemson (S.C.) University during the last six years. Prior to that, he was a research teaching assistant at the Univer- sity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he received both his master of science degree in opera- tions research and systems analy- sis, and Ph.D. in business admini- stration. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics and mathe- matics /computer science from the College of William and Mary, Wil- liamsburg, Va. Jacobs, who has published several articles and presented papers in his professional field, is a member of the Decision Sciences Institute, The Institute of Manage- ment Sciences, Operating Research Society of America, American Pro- duction and Inventory Control Society, and the Production and Operations Management Society. He and his wife, Karen E. Stine, who teaches in AU's School of Sciences, reside in Ashland with their two children. David Schappert named to administrative staff at LCCC David G. Schappert, of Dallas, has joined the administrative staff of Luzerne County Community College as Director of Learning Resources. In his duties at the community college, Schappert will be respon- sible for the administration of library and media services, the acquisition and utilization of materials, the preparation of li- brary budgets, and providing and coordinating instructional support services to students, faculty and administration. : Schappert holds a B.A. from Michigan State University, an M.L.S. from Drexel University, and has completed graduate work at the University of North Carolina. Prior to his position at LCCC, Schappert served as director of the library at Keystone Junior College, LaPlume, Pa. Schappert has published several articles on librarianship and literature, and Kukuchkas honored by Red Cross DAVID G. Local businessman Richard L. Pearsall will serve as general chair- man for hte 1991 Friends of Scout- ing Dinner sponsored by the North- eastern Pennsylvania Council, Boy Scouts of America. The dinner is scheduled for Thursday, February 21 at Genetti Hotel and Conven- tion Center, Wilkes-Barre. The dinner is held each year to raise supplemental funds for the local Boy Scout Council. Council President Eugene J. Kane, Sr. of Kane Trucking and Warehousing, said this year's goal is $125,000. Kane said the money is used to supplement funding from local United Ways to provide for the services to more than 10,000 youth and 2,400 adult volunteers. The council was formed last April by the consolidation of the Penn Mountains Council in Wilkes-Barre and the Forest Lakes Council in Scranton. William Wink promoted to major, is in Saudi Arabia William R. Wink, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Wink, Sr. of Dallas, was promoted to the rank of Major on Sept. 1, 1990. The ceremony took place at the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY, and was followed by a luncheon in the Major's honor at the Hotel Thayer, on the Academy Grounds. A 1972 graduate of Dallas High School, Major Wink went on to graduate from The Polyclinic Hospital School of Nursing, Har- risburg, in the class of 1976. He later received his B.S. Degree from the State University of New York, Binghamton in 1981. Following five years of employ- ment at the Robert Packer Hospi- tal, Sayre, and three years in the New York State National Guard, Major Wink went on active duty in the Army in 1982. He was as- signed to William Beaumont Army Medical Center, El Paso, Texas for two years before entering the Army Anesthesia Course for Nurse Corps Officers. Major Wink was granted his M.S. Degree from Texas Wesleyan College, Ft. Worth, Texas inJanu- ary 1986. He has served as Staff Anesthetist at the Blanchfield Army Hospital, Ft. Campbell, Ky. and the Keller Army Hospital, West Point, NY. Major Wink is currently as- signed to the 5th MASH (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) in Saudi- Arabia. Collins, whose wife, Jean, is the daughter of Marion Petro of 40 Harris Hill Road, Trucksville, PA, has been selected as Senior Eagle of the Quarter for Patrol Squadron-16, Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Fla. Collins was chosen from among all the sailors assigned to the command, and was cited for his outstanding performance of duty, proficiency, leadership, initiative, and military bearing. He joined the Navy in April 1973.
