The Cider Painters of America will be holding their annual National Exhibit of miniature Art beginning October 7 at the Hefft House on Overbrook Road. The Cider Painters are the new generation of Whiskey Painters, according to James Rogowski, the national chairman of cider paint- ers. “The Whiskey Painters made works that were five inches by seven inches or smaller,” said we wanted to go a bit smaller so our works are three by five or smaller.” Three by five may not seem that big but Rogowski said that the Cider Painters pack a lot into their paintings. “It's funny whatyou can fit into that size,” he says. “During the exhibition there will be all sorts of works.” The exhibition is a chance for artists from all over the world to show their miniature work. So far more than 350 paintings have been submitted for the show and more are expected. Works for this year's exhibit have been submitted by more than 70 artists from all over the county. “They are coming from all over,” said Rogowski. “From Maine to Florida and out to Nevada.” Rogowski said that the Cider Painters is a national organization that is finding ties in other coun- tries. “There is a branch of paint- ers in Australia so I guess we are basically international,” said Ro- gowski. He said that some international works may be submitted for the exhibit, which has been going on in Dallas for more than a decade. The success of the show has stimulated a lot of enthusiasm in the Back Mountain and many lo- cal merchants have made dona- tions to help with the many awards given for the exhibition. Awards will be presented during a brunch that will kick-off the event. Once the exhibit is open many of the works will be put up for sale by the artists. Rogowski said that the works vary in price; some can be purchased for as low as $20 and others have gone as high as a couple of hundred dollars. Rogowski urges the public to come out and see the many works that will be exhibited throughout the show, which ends October 28. RN R NY 1). 100 PENNA.
