By CHARLOT M. DENMON Staff Writer John Oliver struck out nine Hanover batters and drove out three of his team’s hits to lead the Back Mountain Nationals to a 3-1 win over Hanover Area Friday night. The win gives the local team the District 16 Little winner of the District 15 game and District 17 game to be played Wednesday night. Errors had cost Hanover their earlier 3-1 loss in their first game with the Nationals and it was much the same, wild pitches that cost them Friday's loss by an identical score. The Back Mountain team took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the firstinning when Oliver knocked out a single and went to second on a ground ball out in the infield. Oliver scored on a wild pitch to give his team a 1-0 lead. Hanover's Ron Tribendis came up first in the top of the second and went to first on a \ single. Pitcher Torrey Jaslar League title. They will meet the Nationals defeat Hanover to take District 16 title went to first on an error to put runners on first and second. Tribendis was tagged out on a fielder’s choice but later Jaslar scored on Jason Henichek’s double into right field. During the early innings Ha- nover players were hitting Ol- iver but a strong defense kept the Hanover boys off the bases. In the third inning Oliver settled down and began throw- ing strikes and National's two runs in the third inning were enough to win the game. With two out Oliver hit a single, Rich Klick walked and Kevin McDonald sent Oliver home with a single. Klick made it to third on the throw and scored when Jaslar threw another wild pitch to give the Nationals a 3-1 lead. The rest of the game Oliver kept Hanover runners off the bases. National manager Jim Bogdan said he was happy for his boys. “Their team work won - the game for us, they are a great group of boys. They are capable of winning it all but can use a little luck with their ability.” Planning your fall sports schedule? Don't forget to have someone supply scores and highlights to The Dallas Post.
