Richardson has entered the Soccer competition Scholastic Division for the Pocono Region. ! Richardson also competed in the Keystone State Games Junior Female Soccer w/2 years of com- petition. Richardson is a Sophomore student at Dallas Senior High School. Both Back Mountain Little League teams win The Back Mountain National team defeated Swoyersville 19-4 Monday to advance to the final bracket in District 16. The Nation- als will play Avoca-Dupont Wednesday with the winner to continue to advance, and continue having to be defeated twice before losing out. Rich Klick struck out 10 and gave up only six hits to take the win for the local team. Kevin "McDonald hit a grand slam and had six RBI's in the game. Justin Jumper had three hits and three RBI's, driving out a home run and a double. Dan Podehl a Las SS ¥ 8 went for three hits and collected * two RBI's and R.J. Brooks had a two run single. In the losers bracket Back Mountain American trounced Northwest 18-4 behind Tim Klimek's pitching who struck out nine. Ted Jackson went 4-for-4 at the plate with a double and three singles. Bill Smith had two singles, a double and a triple for a perfect 4-for-4 and Klimek helped his own game, going 2-for-2. The Americans will host Ha- nover Wednesday. ‘Legion tops Pittston behind one-hit pitching Starting pitcher Chris Engle and reliever Keith Schultz combined on the mound to give up only one hit to the Pittston Legion team Monday at the Back Mountain field. Pittston took an early 3-2 lead over the Back Mountain American Legion team, but in the seventh inning Ray Russin started off with a walk and stole second. Sam Gorgone took base on a walk and Russin scored on Matt Butler's single. Mike Strutko came in to run for Gorgone and when Chris Engle was hit by a pitched ball, Keith Schultz came up and knocked out a single to left field scoring Strutko. Schultz pitched the final three innings and picked up the win. Engle led at the plate driving out a home run and a double and Troy Strauser had two hits. The Back Mountain team moved to 12-1. Back Mt. Legion team shuts out Swoyersville By CHARLOT M. DENMON Staff Writer Back Mountain American Le- gion team shut out Swoyersville 6- ~ 0, Saturday, at Roosevelt Field. Pitcher Sam Gorgone took the win for the Back Mountain helping his game with a run-scoring single and driven home by Chris Engle’s three-run homer in the third in- ning, when the local legion team scored five runs to move them to their 6-0 win. Gorgone, relieved by Shultz gave up two hits and so did Shultz. Ray Russin also knocked out a single and crossed home plate with arun for the Back Mountain. Keith Shultz drove out a double.
