Valedictorian Molly White excelled in many ways Molly White, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph White, Har- veys Lake, was valedictorian of this year's graduating class at Lake-Lehman, with a 4.0 aver- age. A scholar and an athlete, Molly was president of the Stu- dent Council, a peer counselor, editor of the student newspa- per, National Merit Finalist, and drum major of the Lake-Lehman Senior High School Band. She played hockey, basket- ball, softball and was on the track and field squad. Molly received the Harveys Lake Woman's Service Club Award, Dallas Rotary Club Book Scholarship, Luzerne County Science Teachers award, Gil Tough Biology award and an English award. She was selected as a Ben Franklin Scholar at the Univer- sity of Pennsylvania where she will attend and hopes to major in communications and a mi- nor in music. Molly also quali- fied for district, regional and All-State Band. Jason Yencha, MOLLY WHITE Lake-Lehman valedictorian Becky Emelett; The Dallas Post Graduation'90 Section2 Wednesday, June 13, 1990 7 Student-athlete Wendy Skibitsky will attend Temple The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Skibitsky of Sweet Valley, Wendy Skibitsky was named by the U.S. Army as Student /Athlete at Lake-Lehman High School. A member of the National Honor Society, she was also named to ‘Who's Who Among American High School Sports.’ Wendy excelled in athletics as well as she did academically. She was outstanding in basketball, field hockey and softball. She scored basketball career and was the all- time base stealer for Lake-Lehman in softball. Wendy was also the second leading scorer in the Wyo- ming Valley Conference. She was named to the Wyoming Valley All-Scholastic teams in basketball, field hockey and soft- ball. Wendy plans to attend Temple University on a full scholarship where she will play field hockey and possibly softball. She is unde- cided on a major. 1,000 points in her high school The Grade! Megan Kozemchak cited as student-athlete Megan Kozemchak, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Kozemchak of Dallas, was one of the student/ athletes at Lake-Lehman this year. Megan has been a member of the National Honor Society since she was in ninth grade. She was also vice president of the Student Council, was named ‘Who's Who Among American High School Students’ for two years, made the second audition for the Pennsylva- nia Governor's School for Theatre in 1989 and was president of the Junior Mozart Club. An outstanding academic stu- dent, Megan plans to attend Penn State University Campus in the fall where she plans to major in theatre. She did the music for ‘Theatre of the Green’ last year and played the lead, Peter Cotton Tail, in Showcase Theatre. She also was a student director of the school’s theatre presentation. In addition tobeing an outstand- ing academic student, Megan was active in sports playing hockey in her junior and senior year and girls soccer this year where she was named M.V.P. with D.D. Ma- zur. Megan headed the drive for ‘Food for the Homeless’ was tri- editor of the school newspaper and was captain of the hockey team during her senior year. In outside school activities, she is secretary of Lehman United Methodist Church, likes to play the piano and the flute, enjoys Shakespeare and is a great physi- cal fitness lover participating in running, biking and swimming. Ed Kelly starred on field and in classroom Ed Kelly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kelly, Harveys Lake, was named male student/athlete at Lake-Lehman by the U.S. Army. Ed, a member of the National Honor Society, was also a member of the student newspaper staff and of Peer Helpers. He was also one of the students who went on the trip to Russia with a group of Lake-Lehman students under the supervision of faculty member John Comitz. An outstanding athlete, Ed played football, wrestled and ran cross country until his senior year when a knee injury he incurred during football season prevented him from wrestling or running cross country. He had to undergo surgery to correct the injury to his knee when he returned from his trip to Russia. Ed is involved in physical fit- ness and enjoys weight-lifting. He will attend Carnegie-Mellon where he will sit out football dur- ing his freshman year because of his knee. He will, however, act as football manager the first year, then plan to play the following years. Ed also plans to major in chemical research. P.J. Goodwin outstanding in three sports PJ. Goodwin, 1990 graduate from Lake-Lehman, was named Student/Athlete by the District 2 PIAA. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul C. Goodwin of Lake Silkworth, P.J. was outstanding in soccer, wres- tling and football. He was one of the Knight wrestlers who advanced to the PIAA State Competition in wrestling. A member of the National Honor Society, he was recipient of the Wyoming Valley Youth Salute, was named to Rotary Leadership Camp and received a scholarship to Penn State Wilkes-Barre Campus wher he plans to major in bio-chemistry then transfer to the Main Campus where he hopes to earn his Mas- ters and Doctorate. In his leisure time, P.J. does weight-lifting, goes water skiing, swimming, fishing and hunting. Class secretary Heather Salko will attend Penn State Heather Salko, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Salko, Chase is secretary of the 1990 senior class at Lake-Lehman High School. A member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, yearbook and newspaper staffs, she was also named to Junior Leadership Wilkes-Barre. A recipient of ' Who's Who Among American High School Students’. Heather was alsonamed ‘Student of the Second Quarter’ during her senior year. ‘She is planning to attend Penn State Main Campus to major in English or biology.
