Hozempa, 76, of Har- #veys Lake, died June 6, 1990, in Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, King- ston. Bom in Kingston, he was the son of the late Adam and Anna Pistycotty Hozempa. He was a graduate of Ed- wardsville High School, and at- tended Wilkes College. He was an Army veteran of World War II. In 1957, he founded Adam's Clothes, first located in Ed- wardsville and later in the Back Mountain Shopping Center, Shav- ertown. He was a former resident of Edwardsville, having lived the past 40 years at Harveys Lake. { He was past president of the Edwardsville Lions Club and the - Edwardsville Business and Mer- chants Association. He was a life - member of both the Edwardsville AMVETS and the Veterans of For- eign Wars Anthracite Post, King- ston. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church, Harveys Lake, and . its Holy Name Society He was preceded in death by a sister, Isabelle Kazmierski; broth- ers, Alfred and Alphonse. Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Anne Connole; daughter, Beth Kimble, Fresno, Cal.; son, Adam T., Tunkhannock; two grand- daughters; sisters, Helen Plumb, Suitland, Md.; Hedy Pittz, Red- wood City, Cal.; brother Dr. Stanley Hozempa, Shavertown; several nieces and nephews. Interment was in St. John's Cemetery, Dallas. RAYMOND ROBERTS -Raymond Roberts, of Miller Street, Luzerne, diedJune 6, 1990, at his home, following an illness. Born in Shavertown, he was the son of the late Raymond and Hazel Hendershot Roberts. He resided in Luzerne most of his life. He worked for the Union Petroleum Co., retir- ing in November 1989. He was an Army veteran of World War II> He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernadine Gmuca, in 1984. Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Doris Lord; daughters, Mrs. Nancy E. Box 366, Dallas, PA 18612! | A ROBERT ECK Robert Charles Eck, 76, of 207 Legion Ln., State College, died May 28, 1990, in the Fairways, Brookline. Born in Wilkes-Barre, June 27, 1913, he was a son of the late John Andrew and Lydia Eitel Eck. He was a graduate of Kingston Township. School and earned numerous credits in engineering, physics, and mathematics from American University, University of Maryland and Penn State, and a certificate from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. During World War II, he was employed by the intercontinental division of Trans World Airlines as an apprentice mechanic and later was in TWA's research department, serving as an instrument engineer. At the close of World War II, he became head of the procurement department of TWA's newly formed commercial international division, where he was responsible for set- ting up specifications and supply- ing ground service equipment at 22 bases throughout the world. He was also employed as a re- search associate at the Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State, retiring in 1973 after 23 years of service. During his association with the lab he had eight patent disclo- sures and was awarded two pat- ents. He also served as a consult- ant to HRB Singer, State College, and to Singer's central research laboratory in Denville, N.J. He was also licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a professional engineer in 1961. Mr. Eck was a member of the Technical Writers Institute, the Pennsylvania Society of Profes- sional Engineers and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engi- neers, for which he served as edi- tor for the Central Pennsylvania newsletter. He was also a Red Cross sailing instructor and coached several sailing teams. Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Beth King, whom he married July 31,°1940; daughter, Roberta M. Berry, Des Moines, Iowa; sons, Peter K., Nyack, N.Y.; Timothy C., Lancaster; brother, Frederick J., Shavertown; three grandchildren. FLORENCE CABORE Florence Crump Cabore, 66, of Dallas, died June 8, 1990, at her home. She was born in Kingston, on Jan. 24, 1924 and was the daugh- ter of Florence Tremayne Crump and the late Dana Crump. She graduated from Wyoming Seminary, class of 1942 and at- tended Wilkes College. During World War II, she served with the WAVES in the United States Navy. From 1953 to 1985 she was em- ployed as an interior decorator. She has resided in Dallas for the past 3 years. Surviving is her mother, Florence Tremayne Crump, with whom she resided. Interment was private. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Prince of Peace Episco- pal Church or the Back Mountain Memorial Library. VIVIAN J. COOPER Vivian J. Cooper, 83, of 170 Oak St., Trucksville, died June 10, 1990, at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas, where she had been a patient for the past year. Born in the Alderson section, Harveys Lake, on May 25, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Winfred and Fannie Warden Jones. Prior to her retirement she had been employed at the Natona Mills, Dallas. She was a graduate of Wyoming Seminary, Kingston, where she majored in music and was the former organist of the Derr Memorial Church, Wilkes-Barre, and the Shavertown United Meth- odist Church. She was also a for- mer member of the Daughters of America, and the Jehovah's Wit- nesses of Dallas. She was preceded in death by a son, Wesley Cooper, and a daugh- ter, Jean Magg; also brothers, Willard and ElmerJones. Survivng are her husband, Norman W. Cooper; daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Gonick, Tampa, Florida, sons, William Cooper, Warner Robins, Georgia; Norman Cooper Jr., Tampa, Florida; 13 grandchil- dren; four great-grandchildren. Interment will be in West Pittston Cemetery, West Pittston. BETTY ADAMS Betty E. Adams, of North Lake, died June 5, 1990, in Mercy Hos- pital, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Williamstown on July 5, 1921, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine Evans McCord. She was a former Plymouth resident and prior to retiring, had been employed as a presser in the local garment industry. Surviving are her husband, William H.; son, John w., at home; brother, Evan, Kingston; sister, Mrs. Catherine Price, North Lake; several nieces and nephews. Interment was in Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Dallas. PEARL PERRY Mrs. Pearl G. Perry, 93, a native of Nanticoke, died June 8, 1990, at the Meadows Nursing Home, Dallas, where she was a guest since November, 1986. She was born in 1897, adaugh- ter of the late Martin and Mary Dzonec Bednarek. She attended public schools in Nanticoke where she resided most of her life. Mrs. Perry was self-employed asa seam- stress and also worked at Nar- done’s Pizza Restaurant, Wilkes- Barre and the former Berman Jewelry Store in Nanticoke. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Nanticoke, and VFW Post 290 Auxiliary. She was preceded in deasth by her husband, Edward in 1945. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. French (Eleanor) Jones, Dallas; son, Henry, St. Clair, Mich.; three grandchildren; three great-grand- children; brothers, Frank, Nanti- coke; Joseph, Mountaintop; sis- ters, Mrs. Helen Koslowski, a pa- tient at Mercy Health Care Center, Sheatown; Mrs. Agnes Kravitz, Nanticoke; nieces and nephews. Born Aug. 8, 1924 in Wilkes- Barre, he was the son of the late Joseph and Edna Rundle Tait, formerly of Wilkes-Barre. He was a graduate of Coughlin High School, Class of 1942. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the European Theatre of Operations. Mr. Tait worked for Pressman International Color Press, Wilkes- Barre, for 17 years, and then the Democrat and Chronical newspa- per in Rochester for 24 years, prior to retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Ameri- can Legion Post 672, Dallas and was a former member of Shaver- town United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Jane George, formerly of Wilkes-Barre; daughters, Mrs. Rod (Sandra) Czudak, Victor, N.Y.; Mrs. Ken (Susan) Peltzer, Rochester, N.Y.; two grandchildren; brother, Raymond, Levvittown. Dor- rance St., Kingston, died June 10, 1990, in Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, N.J. She was born Nov. 24, 1896, in Noxen, the daughter of the late Jerome and Amanda Cragle Keifer. She was a resident of Kingston the last 25 years and previously lived in Courtdale. Prior to retiring, she was employed in the dietary de- partment at Nesbitt Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Wallace, in 1954 and her second husband, John James in 1967. She was a member of Dorrance- town United Methodist Church, Kingston.
