6 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, May 30, 1990 SOCIAL The fifth annual Festival of Faith Worship Service will be held on Sunday, June 3, at 11 a.m. in the Shavertown United Methodist Church, corner of North Pioneer Avenue and West Center Street, Shavertown. The focus of the Service will be on the Confirmation of 13 Junior High youth into church membership. The Rev. Charles F. Gommer, Jr., Wilkes-Barre District Superintendent of the Wyoming Conference, The United Methodist Church, will be the preacher and leader of the Confirmation liturgy. The music of the Service will be provided by the Festival Choir led by Ros. E. Santos; the Children’s Choir led by Barbara Zarambo and Bonnie Ziegler; the new Handbell Choir led by Peggy Knapich. A new class of adult members will be received into church membership. A reception will follow the service on the church lawn. Erika Long is baptized at Lehman Methodist Erika Bertelle Long, daughter of Jody E. and Daniel M. Long of Binghamton, N.Y. was baptized at the Lehman United Methodist Church by Rev. Michael Sham- bora on May 20. Erika was born at the Johnson City Wilson Memorial Hospital, N.Y. on Sept. 27, 1989. Maternal grandparents are Belly and Richard Lowery. Paternal grandparents are Barbara and Francis Long. Baptismal certificates, books and towel were presented to the family. The Long's have two other chil- dren, Daniel and Crescenda. Mr. Long is employed by the Chenango Valley High School as a high school band teacher. Drug and alcohol-free party for teens June 18 The second drug and alcohol free activity of the year for teen- agers will be held on Monday, June 18 from 5 to 11 p.m. at Pocono Downs. The Adult Advisory Com- mittee and the Teens Advisory Committee have met to finalize plans for the “Summer Fest” to give young people a chance to cele- brate sober at a Carnival with continuous music. Tickets will be available begin- ning May 21 at Boscov's in Hazle- ton and Wilkes-Barre, , Keefer's Jeans and More, all Gallery of Sound stores. and the Armory in Kingston for $3.00. The price of admission will include free soda all evening. There will also be hot dogs, pizza, pop corn, snow cones and cotton candy for sale. The committees are currently lining up eight local bands who will be donating their talent for continuous live music from two : bandstands for the whole evening. They hope to select the musicians for the next New Year's Eve “Rockin Lock-In" from the groups perform- ing on the 18th. There will be at least 12 carnival games and a dunking machine with an opportunity to dunk area high school sports stars, coaches and community leaders. The committee is arranging for public transportation to Pocono Downs from various central loca- tions. Watch for more information about this bus service.
