The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, May 23,1990 9 COMMUNITY Dog owners -- Make sure = your dog is licensed | Luzerne County will be the focal point of a regional canvass, for unlicensed dogs during the months of May and June, accord- ing to Eugene Dziak, Regional Dog Law Sueprvisor, for the Depart- ment of Agriculture. Under the canvass system, dog wardens from the department's regional office in Tunkhannock will form teams during the spring and summer months to call on owners of unlicensed dogs in each county. Dziak said owners who failed to obtain 1990 licenses for their dogs should do so immediately, since violators can be cited to appear in court and fined up to $300. Licenses, required for all dogs six months of age and older, can be obtained through the Luzerne County Treasurers Office. The fee is $3 for spayed or neutered dogs and $5 for other dogs. Owners should present proof that their dogs have been spayed or neu- tered. Senior citizens who provide proof that they are 65 or older pay $1.75 for spayed or neutered dogs and $2.75 for other dogs. Pet owners can obtain a license by mail by getting and filling out a dog license application for each dog and sending the required fee (check or money order) and a self- addressed stamped envelope ‘containing 42 ¢ postage or include the extra 42¢ in the amount of the check and mail to: Michael L. Morreale, Luzerne County Treas- urer, Courthouse, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18711, Telephone: 717-825- 1780. Dziak said that during the canvass, dogs running at large will be impounded at a local ani- mal shelter. Owners will be cited and fined up to $300 for letting their dogs run loose. 7, | Local bank receives national recognition {3 The Grange National Bank of Wyoming County has recently been | notified by the Growth Stock Outlook of Chevy Chase, Md. that it has rr been selected as one of the 134 best managed banks in the United | Library sponsors Childrens Contest Katie Britt, Maureen White, Leanne Browski, Shirley Sebolka, and ~~ > a> : a ae 4 : : } ey ’ Mr. Charles Allman, President of the Growth Stock Outlook Com- | | The Back Mountain Memorial Library recently celebrated National Courtney Kasakowski of Lake-Lehman School District.
