EDWARD SCHOEN Dr. Donald Farmer, vice presi- dent and dean for academic affairs at King's College, recently an- nounced the selection of the first deans who will head the College of Arts and Sciences and the William ~G. McGowan School of Business at King’s. Dr. William Shergalis, vice presi- dent for academic affairs at Ohio Dominican College, will serve as the dean for the College of Arts and Sciences, and Dr. Edward Schoen, professor and chairman of busi- ness administration at King's, has been named dean of the William G. McGowan School of Business. Both will begin their new duties in July. Dr. Schoen, Dallas, has been a member of King's faculty since 1972. He has served as chairman of King’s business administration major for 10 years, and served for two years as chairman of the busi- ness division, which includes eight majors. “I happily accept the challenge of guiding the continued growth in quality and strength of King's business programs, and I antici- pate abusybutrewarding agenda,” said Dr. Schoen. He has also served as an attor- ney at several law offices, and currently serves as Counsel to the Court in the Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas. Before coming to King's he was with Arthur Andersen and Com- pany accounting firm in Philadel- phia, the legislative affairs office of the Equal Employment Opportu- nity Commission in Washington, D.C., and in the Office of Sen. Joseph Clark in Washington, D.C. His published articles include “Computers and Privacy”, “Using the Freedom of Information Act As aToolin Small Business Research”, and “Toward the Year 2000" (a report on insider trading). He was instrumental in the establishment of King's Business Division Advisory Council and the Management for Non-profit Organi- zations Program at King's. Last year he was awarded the John Davis Distinguished Service Pro- fessorship in Business at King's. He earned a B.S. degree in ac- counting from LaSalle College, where he was valedictorian, and a J.D. degree form Georgetown Uni- versity. : GLEN D. MORGAN, PH.D. Morgan gives smoking presentation in Chicago Glen D. Morgan, Ph.D., director of behavioral sciences, Wyoming Valley Family Practice Residency, recently conducted a workshop on smoking in Chicago. The program, “Worksite Smok- ing Cessation Clinics, Policies, and Promotion”, was presented at the 11th Annual Meeting of the Soci- ety of Behavioral Medicine. Par- ticipants were instructed in strate- gies for developing and implement- ing health promotion at the workplace. Dr. Morgan graduated from the University of Maryland and re- ceived a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Washington Uni- versity in St. Louis, Missouri. He holds an appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Depart- ment of Family and Community Medicine in the College of Medi- cine at the Pennsylvania State University. The Wyoming Valley Family Practice Residency isa post- graduate training program for pri-' mary care physicians that is co- sponsored by Nesbitt Memorial and Wilkes-Barre General Hospitals. A licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Morgan maintains a private practice in Kingston, as well as consulting with organizations re- gional and nationally. He resides in Dallas with his wife, Kathleen Nolan, Ph.D., and their sons, Adam and Tyler.
