Members of the executive committee in Y etters Thanks Post, host families for success of regional chorus Editor: It is with deep gratitude that I send this “thank you” to The Dal- las Post for the wonderful service performed for PMEA Region IV Chorus, which was held one month ago at the Dallas Middle School. "1 The “Power of the Press” was no more evident than it was at this time. Two weeks preceding the - event found us with a great hous- ing dilemma only 43 of 163 stu- dents were housed. ‘QUALITY HOMES "A Leader in Custom-Built Homes" Then you printed a variety of articles and the wonderfully warm families of the Back Mountain responded to the need. By Festival time, everyone was more than adequately housed with several families in reserve. The Festival was a GREAT suc- cess but would never have even taken place if it weren't for the Dallas Post and the host families. Mrs. Florence H. Maybe it would be somewhere on Route 309 toward Tunkhannock,” he guessed. John Wertman, who goes to the Odyssey regularly agreed. “We should have something like that back here. havetogetupat6a.m. or earlier to be at the Odyssey on time. I would go to it if they had the facility back here.” Bev Hall of Evans Falls also thinks it's great. “The Back Moun- tain needs it,” she said. “There are so many people who would use something like that but there's nothing available back here. It will be great for the kids and adults. It's time we have something.” Like some of the others she was curious where the facility would be located. “There's plenty of land going out toward Lake-Lehman along Route 118,” she said. “There is also a lot ofland going out toward Beaumont or in Dallas Township.” Fran Ochman of Shavertown offered that, “Maybe, they could buy land from the Dallas School District. I don't know how much land they have but it's possible.” Pauline Roth of Roth Jewlery said the Back Mountain has needed such a facility for years. “Now there are so many people moving to the Back Mountain, it’s something that is desperately needed. The highway is getting too congested to be driving back and forth into town all the time. We need something like that for our area.” “Do you have any idea where it's going to be?” shz asked. Roxanne Bailey of Dallas also said she thought it would be great for this area. “There are certainly enough people back here to make something like that feasible,” she said. “There is a lot of open space going out toward Harveys Lake,” she said. Barbara Hagen, who lives in Lehman was enthusiastic. “I think it will be great to have a facility such as that. The Back Mountain needs something for the people. Where do you suppose they will build it? Thirteen to 70 acres is a lot of ground. It could be up behind Misericordia, or there's a lot of farm area out toward Lehman, but out towards Tunkhannock seems to be the latest direction develop- ers are interested in. It's interest- ing,” she said. “There's lots of land "1the vicinity of the Country Club- up behind it and out along the highway, it could be there.” No one mentioned out toward Orange or East Dallas. Who knows? There is a lot of open land out in that direction especially beyond the Valley View Mobile Home Park or out the Upper Demunds Road toward Centermoreland. Only time will tell. Until the announcement comes out, guessing the facility's location will be a favorite party game in the Back Mountain.
