2 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, December 13, 1989 Obituaries JOHN SPESS John (Jack) Spess, 70, of RD 1, Sweet Valley, died Dec. 11, 1989, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born Feb. 6, 1919, in Plymouth, he was the son of the late Frank and Theresa Fortuna Spess. He resided in Fairmont Springs be- fore returning to Plymouth. He then moved to New Jersey, where he lived for several years prior to moving to Sweet Valley. He and his wife Eleanor were the owners and operators of the Country View Restaurant, Uni- tyville, and prior to that, were the owners and operators ofthe Snack Shack Restaurant, Sweet Valley, for many years. Previously he was employed by the Mack Trucking Co. as a ma- chine operator in Plainfield, N.J. and as a miner for the Glen Alden Coal Co. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Ameri- can Legion, Millville Post, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Benton Post. He was also a member of Irem Temple, AA.O.N.M.S.; the Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg, and the Masonic Blue Lodge, F.&A.M., Reyburn. He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna; brother, Joseph. .Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Eleanor Degutis; brother, Frank, Exeter; sisters, Mrs. Marie Dorris, Forrest, N.J.; Doris Wotjonaski, Old Bridge, N.J.; nieces and nephews. WILLIAM DENMON William D. Denmon, of 21 Yo- landa Lane, Port St. Luicie, Fla., died Dec. 5, at his home following a long illness. Born in Beaumont, Feb. 27, 1914, he was the son of the late Daniel and Roxie Wilsey Denmon. He attended Beaumont schools and was employed as a private chauffeur until his retirement. He was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church, Kingston and the Kingston Lodge 395, F.&A.M.; Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg and the Wilkes-Barre Irem Temple. He had resided ix. Florida for the past 12 years and was an avid golfer and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his - first wife, Matilda Ittig; brothers, Raymond, Richard and Andrew. Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Charlotte Connolly Gould, with whom he celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary on Nov. 18; daughter, Mrs. Paul (Shirley) Okupniarek, Mountaintop; Mrs. Thomas (Roxie) Jones, Kingston; five grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Norbut, Pompano Beach, Fla.; brothers, Russell, Beaumont, Augustus (Chester; Wayne, Wilkes- Barre; Edward, Montrose. Emil Sr., of Robert Street, Sheatown, died Dec. 5, 1989 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Allentown. Born in Kingston Township, he was a son of Melvina Emil Gray of Bunker Hill, Kingston Township, and the late Fred Emil. Mr. Emil attended Dallas High School and was employed as a diesel mechanic by Mack Truck Inc., Allentown, retiring in 1973. He was a former member of the Trucksville Free Methodist Church and was a social member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ply- mouth.
