Dallas High Council had busy October The Dallas Senior High School Student Council recently spon- sored its annual Halloween dress- up day. Winners were selected by a special faculty committee: The categories were unusual, scariest, prettiest, and funniest. Winners received a movie pass. The Student Council recently held its 6th annual Spirit Chain Competition duringHomecoming'’s Spirit Week. The spirit chain money raised is used to support school activities, projects and functions that benefits all students. Also, as part of its continuing public service commitment the Dallas Senior High School Student Council held its semi-annual Blood Drive on October 5. The Student Council and National Honor Soci- “ety will team up and sponsor the annual food drive to benefit the Back Mountain Food Bank. The food drive will be held prior to the Christmas holidays. There are 56 members of Stu- dent Council for the 1989-90 school year. The officers are Renee Strauser, president; Wayde Post, vice president; Jodi Kern, secre- tary; Andrea Shone, treasurer. Shah has received numerous awards during her tenure at Semi- nary, including the Xerox Corpo- ration Award in Humanities and Social Sciences; the Edwin J. Roberts Memorial Prize in Latin; The Renssalaer Mathematics and Science Award; The Leroy E. Bug- bee Prize in History; and The Brown University Book Award. Shah was named to the school's chapter of the national Cum Laude Society, was a National Merit Scholarship Lake-Lehman lists National Merit Scholarship students semi-finalist and has attained Dean's List High Honors every Mr. John Zaleskas, Principal, at Lake-Lehman High School, has been notified regarding three seniors - who have been named Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Dzanko, Jr., a freshman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Dzanko of Shavertown, was among the 48 members of the cast and crew. Dzanko is a 1989 graduate of Dallas High School. Parente is officer of pre-med group ~ Charles Parente, Harveys Lake, is serving as a chief student officer of the Pre-Medical Society at Bucknell University. A junior majoring in biology, Parente is the son of Mary and Charles Parente, R.D. 2. A dean's list student, Parente has served as news assistant editor of the student newspaper, The Bucknellian.
