Klimovitz was determined to make sure: of i." Klimovitz scored both of the goals although he had to wait until the second period before he was able to score on a throw in to the corner off an assist by Ken Kozel. DENMON Staff Writer The Lake-Lehman Knights were- n't looking ahead to the Dallas Mountaineers and the Old Shoe game last Saturday when they traveled up the mountain to defeat the Crestwood Comets 53-6. Two great running backs Terry Martin and Dave Oatridge added up nearly 300 yards between them as they breezed through the Com- ets defense for five touchdowns between them. “Our kids played a super game, especially the first half,” said Coach Rich Gorgone. “Both our offense and defense played their finest game of the year. They blocked well and Martin played a great game as usual. He's one of the finest backs in the conference. Dave Oatridge doesn't play a lot but he did an exceptional job for us Sat- urday. The team is beginning to peak.” The Knights were bigger up front than the Comets and were able to run on the Comets who although well skilled, are not as physical as the Knights. The Lake-Lehman team scored a touchdown on their first play of the game when J.J. Konigus inter- cepted a Crestwood pass and went 46 yards for a touchdown. Terry Martin scored two more touchdowns’ in the first quarter, taking one over from the one-yard line and a second one from the 13- yard line to give the Knights a 21- 0 first quarter lead. Martin reached 1,000 yards rushing for the season before the end of the first half and Oatridge scored a touchdown in the second quarter to give the Knights a 28-0 lead. Sam Gorgone moved the first half score to 34-0 on a 9-yard pass to John Baranowski. Crestwood scored their only points of the game in the third quarter ¢ '* Mathis’ pass to Jefl Zoranski : The Knights scored three times in the second half ¢» Martin's 33- yard run. Rich Thon.as's 12-yard run and Oatridge's 52 yard run into the endzone. “Now we have to work on the ‘Old Shoe’ game coming up this week,” Gorgone said. “We're going to play our best to win. It's always a great game. Dallas is a very good team. They play excellent defense.” Da By CHARLOT M. DENMON Staff Writer Jeff Tinner pulled a hat trick in the Dallas-Lake-Lehman soccer game last Thursday to give the Mountaineers their fourth win over the Knights this season. The 3-0 win advances the Moun- tainers to the District 2 Class AA title against Bishop Hoban which was scheduled for Monday, Nov. 6. In Thursday’s game neither team scored in the first quarter, but Tinner put the Dallas team in front at 17:46 in the second quarter las soccer tops Knights with a shot from about 25 yards out from the goal. Dallas Coach John McCafferty was concerned about the Knights aggressiveness in the first half. “They played the best they have played against us in the first half,” he said. “They controlled the middle of the field and their backs were in control. Our kids started to do that in the second period and then they started to force the action.” In the third period the Lehman goalie saved a score by Ken Kozel to advance but then Tinner, on an assist from Eric Ursiak, scored to give Dallas a 2-0 lead. Tinner scored his third goal with less than four minutes remaining in the game. McCafferty said Dallas didn't have any superstars on the team but that his five seniors and six underclassmen have a job to do and they work together to do it. The winner of the Dallas-Bishop Hoban game will play the District 12 champion at Western Wayne High School at a time to be an- nounced.
