10 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, November 1, 1989 COMMUNITY Missionary conference this week The Fall Missionary Conference of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 39 Gaylord Avenue, Plymouth, will be held November 1-5. Featured in the conference will be missionar- ies from this area, Miss Amy Ri- ~ dall, Rev. and Mrs. Floyd Kester and Rev. and Mrs. Russel Mapes. Highlights of the conference will include special music, a mission- ary forum, testimonies and mis- ~sionary challenges. Rev. and Mrs. Floyd Kester have served as missionaries for 37 years in Zaire (formerly Belgian Congo), Ghana, West Africa and the Wash- ington, D.C. area. More recently they have been engaged in church planting ministry in Nanticoke. Miss Amy Ridall served in Ghana, West Africa, for 20 years. She is currently serving as a spe- cial representative of the Women's Department of Baptist Mid-Mis- sions of Cleveland, Ohio. Rev. and Mrs. Russel Mapes have served as church planters for 34 years, both at home and abroad. They are currently serving with Baptist Mid-Missions in Ghana, West Africa and plan to return to Ghana in January, 1990. Both Mr. Kester and Miss Ridall are graduates of Shickshinny High School, 1945 and 1954, respec- tively. Mr. Mapes was a 1948 gradu- ate of Harter High School in West Nanticoke. The services will be held at the church on November 1-3 at 7 p.m. The November 4 service will be held in the afternoon from 2-6 p.m. at the Ebenezer Camp Grounds near Moon Lake Park. On Sunday, November 5, the services will be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. For more information, call the church office at 779-5311 or 779- 1378. Lake-Lehman band continues winning The Lake-Lehman High School Band has continued its successful winning season in band competi- tions by taking first place in three recent events. : At South Brunswick, New Jer- sey, the Black Knights marched off with the best overall band award as well as trophies for all specialty categories. Lehman competed against 10 of New Jersey's best high school bands. Sixteen ' high school marching bands from Eastern Pennsylvania and New York participated. This past Sunday Lehman per- formed at Nanticoke Area's “Fall Fanfare” competition. Nine bands competed and when the judging was completed Lehman took home first place awards for Best March- ing and Maneuvering, Best Music, Best Band Front, Best Percussion and the overall trophy. Lehman earned its highest score of the season, a91.15 out of 100 possible points. Next weekend Lehman will compete in the Tournament of Bands Association Chapter VII Championships at Wyoming Area High School Stadium. ©0000 000000000 Misericordia presents festive Madrigal College Misericordia will present the 20th annual Madrigal Dinner, an old-English feast with traditional food, singing and professionally choreographed dancing on Friday and Saturday nights, Dec. 1 and 2. The Christmas festivities take place in a regally decorated candle-lit dining hall where singers in period costumes provide entertainment. Through song, the performers will offer insights into medieval legends and customs.
