~~ 8 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, August 9, 1989 Ennis certified The National Association of Catholic Chaplains has officially certified Joanne Ennis, a member ~ of the Mercy Hospital of Scranton Pastoral Care Department, as a chaplain. As such, Mrs. Ennis is the first lay woman in the Scran- ton Diocese to achieve such status. Members certified as chaplains by the national organization must give evidence of the personal, theo- logical, and professional compe- tencies required to minister effec- tively within the health care minis- ‘try. The standards are stringent and require alengthy and demand- ing approval process. At Mercy Hospital, Mrs. Ennis is part of the Pastoral Care team headed by Sister Mary Felician Grogan, RSM and Sister Mercy Dever, RSM who offers spiritual and emotional support to the sick and their families. The official certification enables Mrs. Ennis to continue and ex- pand upon her service in the Mercy Pastoral Care Department as well as assist Hospital Chaplain, Rev. as a chaplain Charles J. Cummings, as an Ex- traordinary Minister of the Eucha- rist and in patient visitations. Born in Pittston, Mrs. Ennisis a graduate of College Misericordia and received a master’s degree from the University of Scranton. She did post graduate work at Catholic University and is a certified in- structor in Parent Effectiveness Training. She received her CPE training at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre and is. an active member of the Na- tional Association of Catholic Chaplains. She has served as an instructor of English at College Misericordia and King's College where she also served as academic advisor for freshmen students. Since 1981 she has taught Parent Effectiveness techniques to groups of parents throughout the Wyoming Valley. She is married to John Ennis, a King's College faculty member. The couple resides in Dallas with their two sons, Eoin and Connor. Shawn Robert Sorber baptized Shawn Robert Sorber, son of Robert and Lynda Sorber, RD 4, Dallas, was baptized at the Lehman UMC on July 30 by the Rev. Mi- chael Shambora. Shawn Robert was born on June 30, 1989 in the Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, Kingston. Godparents included Heinzel Zolthily of Vienna, Austria and Georgette Sorber of Dallas. Maternal grandparents are, John and Grace Steele. Paternal grandparents are Erna and John Thier. Mr.. Sorber is the owner of King Neptune Seafood, Dallas. Recognized for leadership Bernice Hill, Shavertown, was recently presented a special gift in recognition and appreciation of her leadership of the Auxiliary of the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas, during her two year term of office as president. Crispell reunion set for Saturday The 76th Annual Reunion of the Crispell Family (Pennsylvania Branch) will be held at Dymond Grove, Noxen, on Saturday, Aug. 12, at noon. Families are asked to bring place settings, meat and beverage for themselves and a dish for the buffet table. There will be games for the youngsters and fun for all. Wilson awarded Flack Memorial Scholarship Lake-Lehman graduate Ann Marie Wilson was recently awarded a “Charles D. Flack” Memorial Scholarship at College Misericordia. She was chosen for the Flack Scholarship based on her scholastic aptitude, leader- ship abilities and involvement in school-related activities. Students who have a parent working full- time at Diamond Manufacturing Company are eligible to apply. Wilson spent the last year inJapan on a Rotary Scholarship. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilson of Noxen, and will begin studying nursing in the fall. Ann Marie Wilson Larry Jasper is elected an officer of builders association # Larry Kasper, Harveys Lake, has been elected Regional Vice Presi- dent of the Pennsylvania Builders Association (PBA), a statewide 8,200 employer member trade association, Richard Baumgard- ner, president, announced. Kasper will serve on the 160 member board of directors where he will be responsible for oversee- ing the association's activities on both the state and national levels. Kasper will represent the North- east region of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Home Builders Association of Northeastern Penn- sylvania. The PBA is the statewide asso- ciation representing the residen- tial construction industry. The PBA has 39 local chapter affiliates around the state.
