A book written by Daniel Waters, titled, “History of Dallas, Pennsylvania” is one of the best histories of Dallas to be found. The book was published for the Town- ship Sesquicentennial and in- cludes history from 1817 through 11967 and before. It also includes Dallas Borough from 1879 to 1967. The book was copyrighted in 1967. The remaining copies of this book ‘were given to Bruce Davies by Jim and in turn made their way to the library. Members of our Board of Directors purchased some of the books, after the Boy Scouts had sold some and the library was able to add quite a few copies of the book to their collection. The re- maining of the books were taken to The Dallas Post and were sold there for $10.00 each and every copy was sold quickly. This effort to- taled a $443.00 increase to the library's financial picture for 1989. M.E.L.V.L.L.'S Magical Mystery Mansion Summer Reading Club is in full swing with 212 children registered so far. They are on the second week and the first two week's clues are 1. Melvil likes to read and 2. Melvil likes to come to the library. The club will continue until August 11 for the pre-school children up to sixth grade. The story hour children were treated to a special time last week when storylady, Janice Swepston, arrived with a large armful of bal- loons. What a good time they had. Children and balloons, there is no greater combination for sheer joy. Some of the little ones were at the front counter checking out their books and all we could see was balloons. A group of very happy children left the library that day with their books and their bal- loons. : One of our borrowers returned an audio cassette to the library last week and was very happy to have had it with her on her recent trip. She became tied up in a traffic jam in Maryland and was stopped for one hour and was delighted to be able to play the cassette and enjoy the story which helped her wait become more undurable.
