Reports were presented by Ann Balavage, acting secretary and Kay Hudak, treasurer. Nick Pericci, FOSCCO delegate, stated that voting on the PA. MOM (Medicare Overcharge Measure) and the Means amendment will be voted on during the week of June 12. Members were urged to write to their state representatives ex- pressing their views on this most important issue. Gert Miscavage, Sunshine chairlady, reported that get well wishes were sent to Ann Spaciano's mother, and a condolence card was sent to Ann Strucko. Mem- bers were informed that Tim McGuire is now a guest at Leader West Nursing Home in Kingston. Mary Ann Daley, Project HEAD coordinator, was present at the installation of officers for 1989- 1990. The oath of office was ad- ministered to Joe Precone, presi- dent; Bob Rogers, vice president; Betty Beline, secretary and Kay Hudak, treasurer. Following the meeting, Bill Evans, Audubon Society, gave a slide presentation which was re- ceived with great interest by those present. His colorful description of the slides and the answers to questions fielded by the audience were evidence of the knowledge and experience he has acquired in over 20 years of bird watching, studying nature, and displaying concerns about the preservation of our wetlands. A covered dish luncheon, hon- oring Mothers and Fathers, will be held at the next meeting, June 15 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Therese's Audi- torium, Shavertown. Co- chairladies Sophie Kapraland Mary Sitkowski request that members and guests bring their own place settings, and also a wrapped gift for “Crazy Bingo”, which will fol- low the luncheon. The club meets on the first and third Thursday of the month and new members are always welcome. Yoga exercise period is led by Ann Balavage prior to each meeting and begins at 12 noon. Campers have fun learning College Misericordia will spon- sor its annual summer day camp . program for children with special needs from July 5 to August 11. The camp is for mildly to moder- ately disabled children and is directed and staffed by faculty and students in the College's Special Education Program. Activities at the camp center - around music, drama, art, ag- uatics, and leisure education. The curriculum is designed to main- tain and develop communication, social and motor skills through fun activities with the special campers. — = —— — S—— u——————— | ii ji" j ® 7 4 The camp staff includes a certi- fied special education teacher, a certified music therapistand camp aides who are students in Miseri- cordia’s special education or ele- mentary education programs. The ratio of students to staff is three to one. The Education Club donated $75 to provide a partial scholar- ship for a child in need. The camp is held at Mercy Center in Dallas. Gauthier of RD 1, James St., Dallas, has completed recruit training at Recruit Train- ing Command Orlando, Fla. During Gauthier’s eight-week training cycle, he studied general military subjects designed to pre- pare him for further academic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy's 85 basic fields. Gauthier’'s studies included seamanship, close order drill, Naval history and first aid. Personnel who complete this course of in- struction are eligible for three hours of college credit in Physical Educa- tion and Hygiene.
