Dallas Middle School classes study other cultures Two seventh grade classes of Dallas Middle School world cul- tures students recently completed a cultural scrapbook, under the guidance of Mr. William Roberts. This research project required that the students write a formal letter to the ambassador of their research country asking for infor- mation that would help in prepar- ing their scrapbook. The students researched areas dealing with government, history, industrial growth and natural resources. Maps, charts and written reports were prepared to reflect the infor- mation discovered. The scrapbooks resulted in the students gaining an appreciation and understanding of foreign cul- tures. : "A Time For : ~ Rejoicing And Renewed Faith! \ al Ll SY JF 44 (Rw #5 CELEBRATE 7 E:A: ST: ER > > LH — IN CHURCH = Y =3 nn Sw 3 This ad sponsored by 2 the following public spirited businesses. : | : ® MAZUR UPHOLSTERY Carolyn Lauer's Shear Magic RD. 4. The book will be added to the college library. Margie studied anthropology, 8 psychology, philosophy and speech communications at the college. “Before coming to the college, I wasn't sure what career choice to make. Now I have applied for a social science degree in order to work in public relations and for- eign affairs,” she explained. “Iwould like to convey my thanks to the professors. Their courses broadened my outlook. I feel have been given a good background for courses I'll take back home.” Margie studied at Lake-Lehman School last winter spending the fall semester commuting to Mis- ericordia. She plans to enter a university when she returns to her home of Potgietersrust, South Af- rica. Margie Goetsch In contrasting the United States and South Africa she said, “The United States is more rushed. For example, at home we don't use the conveniences, like fast foods, as much. One of the biggest differ- ences was the snow. I really en- Jjoyed skiing. I love it and I'll miss it."
