Pearl Biggs, Beaumont, received a plaque as a Deca Donor, five years of giving blood and Desmond Palmer of Scranton, Native Textile employee, who has given 40 pints of blood. The target goal for the Feb. 28 collection at St. Paul's Lutheran Church was 110 pints which was surpassed by 15 pints. Red Cross officials were pleased with the 125 productive donors and particu- larly since there were 13 first time donors. This is the second successful collection since November at St. Paul's, the other on ‘Dec. 5 when the target of 110 pints was met. (C.M. Denmon Photo) Kraynak named coordinator of exchange group Edward Kraynak has recently been named community coordina- tor by the L.E.F. Co. (International Education Forum) of Danville, Calif. Ed, who resides with his wife function as liaison among all par- ties involved in the L.LE.F. Student Exchange Program in the Wyo- ming Valley. This exchange pro- gram includes high school stu- dents from all parts of the world. Edward Kraynak Tobi Grossman appointed to new post at Penn State Tobi Grossman, of Dallas, a member of the Continuing Educa- tion staff at Penn State Wilkes- Barre Campus for the past four years, has been promoted from program assistant to area repre- sentative for Continuing Educa- tion. In her new role, she will be re- sponsible for contacting area or- ganizations to provide university programs and services that meet their educational and organiza- tional needs. She also works with local organizations on human re- source development. Tobi Grossman Scott Perryman awarded Captain's Plaque at Tilton Scott Perryman, a senior at Til- ton School and son of Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Roberts of Dallas, and Dr. Richard Perryman of Miami, FL, earned a Captain's Plaque at Til- ton’s recent winter sports awards banquet for his leadership of the boys’ varsity basketball team dur- ing its '88-'89 season. Guest speaker at this annual athletic banquet was Suzan Rowe, women's varsity basketball coach at Plymouth (NH) State College, who has the distinction this sea- son of coaching the first PSC women's team in 10 years to qual- ify for the Little East Conference playoffs. Tilton School, a coeducational independent boarding school in the Lakes Region, provides a col- lege-preparatory program for high- school-aged students. Jack Kloeber, Jr. promoted to major Jack M. Kloeber Jr. was pro- moted March 1 ina ceremony which included the following statement from the Department of the Army. “The President of the United States has reposed special trust and confidence in the patriotism, valor, fidelity, and abilities of Jack M. Kloeber. In view of these qualities and his potential for increased responsibility, he is therefore pro- moted in the Untied States Army to the rank of Major, Field Artillery, Regular Army.” Presiding officer at the ceremony at West Point, N.Y. was Colonel Frank Giordano, head of the De- partment of Mathematics at the United States Military Academy. Assisting in the pinning on of the gold oak-leaves were his wife, the former Elena Papaspanopoulos of Yiannitsa, Greece, and his father, Jack M. Kloeber, formerly of Shav- ertown, now Orange. Attending the ceremony along with friends and fellow officers were his wife, Elena and children Mary, Jack III, Sophia, sister Priscilla Priestman, niece Gwen Priestman, and parents. Major Kloeber graduated from Dallas High School in 1973 and began his Army career as a 4 year R.O.T.C. Scholar for undergradu- ate study at Lehigh University. He completed a Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering specializ- ing in Operations Research at Lehigh. At present he is assigned to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point as instructor in the Department of Mathematics. The Kloeber family will spend: the summer in New Mexico.
