Library news By NANCY KOZEMCHAK The Back Mountain Memorial Library has received 100 videocas- sette tapes through the Public Broadcasting Service at a dis- counted price. These videotapes will be paid for by the library dur- ing a four year period with funds committed for this purpose. A portion of the cost of these vide- otapes is being funded through participation with an LSCA Title 1 fund project. The library has re- ceived a basic collection of 80 titles chosen from the PBS Video cur- rent catalog. We were also able to choose 20 unique titles for our own particular collection. At the present time, 40 of these videos are on the shelves and able to be borrowed by the public, for a one week period. Some of the titles of the videos are: American State Play Specials, “Heartbreak House” and “The Dining Room”; Here's to your Spaceflight, “Thunder in the Skies” and “The Wings of Mercury”; America’s Civil Rights Years, “Awakenings” (1954-56) and “Eyes on the Prize” Fighting Back (1857- 62). Some Mister Rogers videos: “Death of a Goldfish” and “Mister Rogers Talks with Parents About Competition”; Leo Buscaglia, “All the Special Children” and “Loving Relationships” and Frontline vid- eos, “What About Mom and Dad?"; “Stopping Drugs” and “Inside the - Jury Room”. New memorial books New Memory Books received at the library: “Sing a Song of Pop- comm” presented to the children’s room by Elaine Schall in memory of Richard H. This collection of 100 PBS video tapes now available childhood’s most treasured poetry should find a place in every home that has a child in it. “Stringbean'’s Trip to the Shin- ing Sea” by Vera and Jennifer Williams is presented to the children’s room by the Junior League of Wilkes-Barre in memory of Richard H. Rudolph and is a collection of postcards and snap- shots that Stringbean Coe and his brother Fred sent home from the long trip they made one summer in Fred's truck. Branley who has teamed up with artist Don Madden to create a clear informa- tive look at the planets in our solar system, including our own Earth.
