8 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, December 21, 1988 “COMMUNITY : Special postmarks add spice to mail There are many post offices throughout the country with holi- day-like names. Most postmasters will oblige customers’ requests for the cancellation. Address and stamp your cards, package them in boxes or large envelopes and send the items along with a letter requesting that a cancellation be added. It will be applied free of charge and the cards placed in the mail. Please do not wait until Decem- ber 22 torequest the service. It does take time, so mail early. The following is a list of post offices with holiday-reiated names: Bethlehem, Pa. 18016 ‘Christmas, Pa. 32709 Nazareth, Ky. 40048 Galilee, Pa. 18423 North Pole, Alaska, 99705 Snowflake, Ariz. 85937 Holly, Colo. 81047 Mistletow, Ky. 41351 Noel, Mo. 64854 Joy, Ill. 61260 Shepherd, Mont. 59079 Lake Lehman Key Club members visit Kiwanis Madonna, Vt. 05464 Santa Claus, Ind. 47579 Rudolph, Ohio 43452 St. Marys, Pa. 15857 Silver Bell, Ariz. 85270 Even the best mail-order com- pany makes an occasional mistake, but most will move quickly to cor- rect it. Ifyou have a problem with a mail- order”purchase, first contact the company. Provide your account number, order number, details of the order, and an explanation of what went wrong. If the company has a toll-free customer-service number and you call to complain, it's a good idea to follow up in writing so you have a record for your files. Include a copy of your cancelled check, money-orderreceipt or credit card slip. If the company doesn't respond, or if you're still not satisi- fied, you can write to the Mail Order Action Line of the Direct Marketing Association, 6 East 43 Street, New York, NY 10017. If you placed your order by mail, or if your merchandise was deliv- ered or was supposed to have been delivered by mail, call your post- master. You also may want to report the problem to the Better Business Bureau and to the state or local consumer protection agencies, both in your state and in the mail-order company’s home state. If you placed your order in re- sponse to the magazine or newspa- per ad, you may also want to contact the publisher. Publishers often try to resolve problems between their readers and advertisers. Finally, if you suspect the com- pany is deliberately trying to de- fraud you, immediately contact your local Postal Inspector in Charge and consider complaining to the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, D.C. The FTC won't resolve your individual dispute, but the informa- tion you provide may help establish a pattern of abuses requiring FTC action. ~ Members of the Lake-Lehman High School Key Club visited the Back Mountain Kiwanis Club at a recent breakfast meeting at Rickett's Charge Restaurant, Dallas. The real gifts of the Christmas season Christmas is a time for giving- giving gifts to those we love or care about. Gifts carefully selected for those special people in our lives, gifts wrapped in beautiful paper and colorful bows or ornaments. The ideal gifts from one loved one to another cannot be wrapped in gold or rosy red but are gifts given of health or faith, offered in warmth and friendliness with wishes for peace among all. : Christmas is a time for giving and remembering-remembering the wonderful times spent with other loved ones, with family, with friends. Denmon that are beyond my reach. I wish I could go back in time and give to my sons the wisdom I have learned, save them the mistakes that I have made. IfI could only walk arm-in-warm one more time with those so dear to me, in the warm sunshine. If only under the tree I could place wrapped in gold, a gift of vision to that one man in my life or toa son, from one more chance at life. If only I could capture the twinkle in a dear friend's eye, the smile of a newborn babe, and the forgiveness of a stranger, mix them together with hope and love and scatter the gift of peace to men of all nations, a gift that would last forever. These are the gifts that I would wish to give or receive for or from all for Christmas. : ays ’ ; ‘ HILLSIDE FARMS DAIRY STORE Hillside Rd. Trucksville 696-2881 OPEN DAILY 8:00 AM. - 8:00 P.M.
