Blizzard, 65, of Noxen, died Dec. 13, 1988, following an ‘apparent heart attack, while hunt- ing deer in the Stull area of Noxen. Born Aug. 9, 1923, in Noxen, he was the son of the late Samuel and Mary Ann Miner Blizzard. He was employed by the Armour Leather Company, Noxen, 20 years, in the shipping department, and was the head custodian of the Lake- Lehman High School, 15 years, and was also employed by Hanson's Amusement Park, Harveys Lake, as a park manager. Mr. Blizzard was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Euro- pean Theatre of Operation as a tank driver. He was a member of the Noxen Volunteer Fire Company and Am- bulance Association; VFW Post MARGARET JACKSON Margaret L. Jackson, 84, of the White Birch Trailer Court, Dallas, died Dec. 13, 1988 in the Leader West Nursing Center, Kingston, where she had been a guest since October. Born in Plymouth, she was the daughter of the late George and Josephine Kolczynsky Lawrence. ‘She attended the Plymouth ~ schools. She had resided in Dallas for the past 23 years and had previously resided on North Main Street in Wilkes-Barre. Prior to retiring, she had been employed asa clerkin the Bergman's Department Store, Wilkes-Barre. Her husband, H.J. Jackson, pre- ceded her in death on March 3, 1973. Surviving are a brother, Leo Lawrence, Lynwood; sisters, Mrs. Anna Kravitz, Chester; Mrs. Ber- nardine Jones, Plymouth. Memorial services were conducted by Rev. W. Donald Lyon, pastor of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. MARGUERITE WEEKS Marguerite Weeks, 83, of the . Meadows Apartments, Lake Street, / Dallas, died Dec. 13, 1988 in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, N.J., she was the daughter of the late William J. and Sarah McClean Weeks. She attended the Brooklyn pub- lic schools and had resided in ~~ Brooklyn most of her life. Prior to moving to Dallas three years ago, she had resided in Whiting, N.J. Prior to retiring, she was em- ployed as a secretary in the insur- ance business. She was a member of the Lakehurst Presbyterian Church, Lakehurst, N.J. Surviving are nieces and neph- ews. Interment was in Orcutt Ceme- tery, Noxen. CATHERINE HENNINGER Catherine P. Henninger, 74, of Harris Street, Fernbrook, Dallas, died Dec. 19, 1988 in the Wilkes- Barre General Hospital. Born in Edwardsville, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Catherine Walsh Leonard. Mrs. Henninger attended the Edwardsville schools, and resided in Dallas the past 45 years. She was a member of Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas, and its Altar and Rosary Society. Mrs. Henninger was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. Post #283, Kingston; and the Meadows Nursing Home Auxiliary. She and her husband, William H., celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on Dec. 5, 1988. Surviving in addition to her husband, are sons, William E.J., Ladson, S.C.; Edward, Pocono Lake; Dana, Hunlock Creek; John, Larksville; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Donna) Dymond, Chase; sisters, Mrs. Julia Brennan, Woodbridge, N.J.; Mrs. Natalie Hooper, Kingston; Mrs. Louise Little, Cresco; Mrs. Dorothy Rinek, Easton; 19 grandchildren; two great- grandchildren. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown. FRED NEWMAN Fred W. Newman, 77, of Highland Drive, New Goss Manor, Dallas, died Dec. 18, 1988 at his home. BornJuly 7, 1911, in Parsons, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Pyatt Newman. Educated in the local schools, Mr. Newman's career in the local printing trade spanned a total of 45 years. He began his trade in the printing field as an apprentice for the former International Color Printing, Co., Wilkes Barre. He then joined the pressroom crew at the Wilkes-Barre Publishing Company, where he was employed for over 28 years. He re- tired in 1975. A Naval veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Parsons Primitive Methodist Church and also a member of the Printers, Pressman and Graphic Communications Un- ion, Local, #137. Surviving in addition to his wife, the former Martha Sneddon, are a daughter, Mrs. Lois Schwartz, Read- ing; sons, Thomas, Reading; Fred Jr., Cleveland, Ohio; seven grand- children; sister, Mrs. Isabelle Yochem, Parson; brother, Jack Newman, Kingston. Born Feb. 20, 1918, in Plains, he was the son of the late Anthony and Paraska Lukaschat Scorupa. He resided at Harveys Lake for the past 60 years. JOHN SCORUPA for the Glen Alden Coal Company, and was superintendent of high- ways for PennDOT. : Mr. Scorupa owned and operated a farm at Harveys Lake since 1950. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox, Church, Edwardsville; and was also a mem- ber of the United Mine Workers Union. He and his wife, the former Eliza- beth Warke, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last July. Mr. Scorupa was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Duda. Surviving in addition to his wife, are sisters, Mary Sisco, Katherine Sisco, Ann Farris, Elizabeth Stefanowicz, all of Wilkes-Barre; several nieces and nephews. Interment was in the Fern Knoll Burial Park. Aponick student of the month at Wyoming Seminary John Aponick, a senior at ‘Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School in Kingston, has been selected Student of the Month for December by the Kingston-Forty Fort Lions Club. Aresident of Shavertown, Aponick has attended Wyoming Seminary since nursery school. He is vice- president of the student government and has been president of his class each of his four years at the Upper School.
