The 5th and 6th grade students at the Lehman-Jackson Elementary School recently participated in a Career Day Program. The program is in its fifth year and was designed to promote career awareness amongst the students. It helps the students become more aware of careers they may not have previ- ously been aware of and it stresses the importance of a good education as it applies to all careers. The students heard from the fol- lowing people who volunteered their Phillips awarded scholarship for academic excellence A Marywood College dietetic stu- dent, from Dallas has been awarded a scholarship for outstanding aca- demic work by national organiza- tions. - James Phillips, RD 2, Overbrook Ave., Dallas, has been awarded the Dorothy Macrae Hyman Memorial Scholarship. William Gorton admitted to PA bar association William T. Gorton, III, a former Dallas native, has been admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar to practice law. He is now an associate with the Philadelphia law firm of Baskin Flaherty Elliott and Mannino, P.C. Mr. Gorton, the oldest son of Sally Gorton, is a graduate of Dallas High School. His undergraduate studies were at Penn State, and he gradu- ated with distinction from the Uni- versity of Kentucky College of Law. Before entering law school, Mr. Gorton worked as an associate and manager for Skelly and Loy Engi- neers-Consultants in Le on, Kentucky, where he managed engi- neering and environmental consult- ing projects throughout the U.S. King's student Tim Cotter intern with Parole board Timothy Cotter, of Shavertown, is currently serving an internship with the Luzerne County Adult Parole and Probation as part of his undergraduate education at King's College. A senior majoring in criminal justice, he is a 1985 graduate of Dallas Senior High School and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Cotter of Shavertown.
