The dedication ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. with college officials, members of the Schiowitz family and community friends. The sculpture, entitled “Pause,” is being donated by Robert and Rebecca Aben. Aben purchased the sculpture and presented it to the College to be the focal point within The Schiowitz Atrium at the en- trance to the building. Following the dedication on Sunday, sculptor Henry Schiowitz will exhibit several of his works at Regina Hall adjacent to the Rosenn Plaza on the campus of Misericordia from Monday, Dec. 12, to Sunday, Dec. 18. The public is invited to attend the free exhibit each day from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The display will feature works in bronze, gran- ite, soapstone and marble. Many of the pieces on display at this exhibit were inspired by Schiow- itz’ recent world tour of Thailand, Japan, Burma, Bali, Singapore and a five month sojourn in India. The artist plans to spend this year dedi- cated to creative growth through the exploration of Far Eastern art and techniques. The placement of “Pause” at Mis- ericordia has special significance to the College because it brings the relationship between Misericordia and the artist full circle. In 1975, the Art Gallery at Misericordia of- SHIOWITZ SCUPLTURE - "Pause’, a Henry Schiowitz scuplture, is a gift to College Misericordia from Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Aben. fered the then 20-year-old Schiow- itz an opportunity to present his first one-man show. That exhbit became a starting point in a career that has led Schiowitz around the world on creative ventures and art exhibititions. In the Wyoming Valley, Schiowitz is most widely recognized for his Conny WILKES-BARRE $x % X-COUNTRY CCM STARTER sculpture of the Gruen Curvex watchface placed at the entrance of the international headquarters of Jewelcor Incorporated at the corner of Wilkes-Barre Boulevard and Market Street in Wilkes-Barre.
