COMMITTEE LUNCHEON-Students in the Foods Class at Dallas Senior High School planned, prepared and served the luncheon to members of the Vocational Advisory Committee meeting Friday, November 18, in the school library. From left, above, are Heather Conrad, Denise Novitsky (partially hidden), Dave Rinehimer, Jeff Jerrytone, Steve Carr, Brian Novicki, Tom Shone, Kris Justus and Wendy Kerdesky, who assisted in serving the lunch. (C. M. Denmon Photo) Committee learns that voc-ed money is drying up parent program. Kenneth Kirk, who is with the State Department of Education explained that until this year, there was plenty of money in the disad- vantaged category because the money was not being used until districts learned unknown costs could be included. All of the dis- tricts took advantage of this so now the money in the fund is gone. John Chapple reported that the business department was in need of more equipment including electric typewriters as well as computers. Mrs. Laveda Riggins of the Home Economics Department reported that programs needed to be up- graded to meet the requirements in the change of social living. “There are too few mothers at home in the kitchen preparing meals for their families,” Mrs. Riggins said. “In today’s society, meals are usually eaten in front of the televi- sion, or are eaten in two, three or four shifts, depending upon work- ing hours. Nutrition is no longer the main concern in preparation of a meal-there are more fast foods served, foods which do not contain the food elements needed,” she said. The luncheon served was pre- pared and served by members of th Foods class. ips Religious services COMMUNITY CHURCH OF DALLAS (across from Chapel Lawn Cemetery on Harveys Lake Memo- rial Highway.) Try out for "Lullaby" Showcase Theatre will hold try- outs for the Don Appell comedy, “Lullaby”, at its new facility located | at 54 Tunkhannock Avenue in Exeter, according to President Jane Tomassetti, Trucksville. Tryouts are set for Sunday, Nov. 27, 2-5 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 28, 7-9 p.m. Director Joseph Ristagno, West Pittston, stated the cast calls for two men and two women and encouraged arearesidents interested in doing arena-style acting, to make plans on attending the scheduled tryouts. Production dates will be in late January, 1989. Ristagno commented that “Lull- aby” is the story of a truck driver who runs from home at age 38, elopes to Scranton with a brassy cigarette girl whom he met and married inside of three days. Add to this a bossy mother and the results bring forth much comedy. O25 ASURES, OF GIVING Selecting the appropriate gift can be as rewarding as receiving it!
