Police Soon DALLAS TOWNSHIP @ Accident injures four "Dallas Township police reported that on October 27, Loren Berlew driving a 1988 Dodge struck a 1984 Renault driven by Deborah Ruth Steele of Huntsville Road, Dallas on Lower Demunds Road. Berlew, Mrs. Steele and Lillian Turner and Justin Steele, passengers in the Steele vehicle were taken to Nesbitt Memo- rial Hospital for treatment by the Dallas and Kunkle ambulances. Mrs. Steele and the passengers in her car @ suffered moderate injuries. ~ House broken into I) “Patrolman Jeremy Torr reported that on November 5, Roberta Cos- tello of Dallas Township told police that a window in the front of her house had been broken into and someone entered the house between 4 p.m. and 8:15 p.m., and took various items. Key left under mat, car is stolen On October 31, Officer Elliott Ide was called to the home of Ida Mar- ino, Overbrook Avenue where a 1984 Ford Escort station wagon was taken & from the driveway of the Marino home sometime between 11 p.m., October 30 and 6 a.m., October 31. The owner said the key to the car was left under the floor mat of the vehicle. Jewelry stolen from home Dallas Township Officer John Appel investigated a theft at the home of Mary Confair, Country Club road, Dallas, which was reported October 28. Mrs. Confair said that on October 26, a diamond horse- shoe ring valued at $3,800 and a fox ¢ head ring valued at $100 were taken from the master bedroom of her home where she had left them. Theft at construction site Contractor Frank Michaels on November 7, reported that two air conditioners were removed from their pads at Beaumont Inn some- time between 6:15 p.m., Sunday, November 6 and 6:45 a.m., Novem- ber 7. The persons also cut into the storage trailer and took 15 sheets of birch plywood and two 10-foot lengths of four inch PVC and one roll of copper tubing. Value of the items was estimated at $11,210. KINGSTON TOWNSHIP @ DUI, reckless driving charged On October 28, Patrolman Mi- chael Moravec investigated a four- car collision on Route 309 near South Main Street. A 1981 Buick LeSabre driven by Edmund Strav- inski of Bennett Street, Luzerne, was traveling south when a 1981 Oldsmobile driven by Clinton Ide of Wilkes-Barre, pulled across the passing lane in Stravinski's path. Stravinski swerved to avoid colli- sion and began to spin striking Ide’s vehicle. Officer Moravec believed Strav- inski to have been driving under the influence. two witnesses observed Stavinski driving erratically and the accident. Ide said he was traveling north in the passing lane and saw cars all over the road. Stravinski was charged with DUI and reckless driv- ing. DUI and disorderly conduct charged after accident On October 31, Cathy Lee Jones, Crisman Road, Sweet Valley, was traveling south in a 1977 Jeep on Route 309 and lost control of the vehicle striking the concrete barrier in the center of the highway. Her vehicle became airborne for approxi- mately 50 fet before it came down on its side. Lee was removed by Kingston Towsnhip Rescue Unit and ambu- lance and was taken to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for treatment. She was arrested for DUI and disorderly conduct by Officer Robert Weiss. Hit and run accident Police said that on November 2, on Route 309 and Harris Hill Road, a 1979red Chevrolet traveling north struck a 1988 Chevrolet driven by Donald Kretchmer, Lehigh Street, Trucksville. When Kretchmer turned left on the green light his vehicle was struck by the red Chevrolet. Driver of the red Chevrolet left the scene and continued north on Route 309. Police located the car parked in the rear of a bar in Fernbrook. Todd S. Ayers, RD 2, Harveys Lake, admitted to police that he was the driver of the car, that he panicked and left the scene. Ayers was charged with hit and run and a red light violation by Kingston Township Sergeant James Balavage. Lights stolen from McDonald's Police Sergeant James Balavage reported that on November 4, Gary Rodgers, manager of McDonald's Restaurant reported the theft of three decorative lights valued at approxi- mately $600. Rodgers said the lights were pulled forceably from their stands sometime between the night of November 3 and the morning of November 4. Car stolen SergeantJames Balavage received a report November 5, from John Jesso, 405 Carverton Road, Trucksville, that during the night hours of November 5, a 1979 Pon- tiac silver Trans Am, owned by Dawn Marie Redmond was taken from the parking lot of the Kandle Lite Motel. Complainant stated his mother is the wife of the motel owner and the vehicle is parked there at night. He, also said an extra set of keys were in the console of the car. DALLAS BOROUGH Child strick by car Officer James Drury on October 30 was called to investigate an acci- dent on Davenport Street, Dallas. The report said Kristine Rae Gill, 139 Davenport St., Dallas was driv- ing south on Davenport Street. As she was passing a parked car, a child ran trom bpeninu a veiucic anu into the side of Gill's vehicle. When Gill got out of her car to " check on the child, her vehicle went over an embankment and struck a utility pole. The Biggs child was removed by Dallas Ambulance to Nesbitt Memorial Hospital. Simple assault On November 7, Roger Alan Sadowski, Jr., 136 W. Church St., Nanticoke, was charged with simple assault and harrassment for strik- ing Steven Hagenbach in the Dallas Village Shopping Center. It is al- leged that on October 27,Sadowski walked up to Hagenbach in the shopping center and hit him in the face. Officer James J. Drury was the investigating officer.
