Dymond, 84, RD 1, Noxen, died Oct. 14, 1988 at the Tyler Memorial Hospital, Tunkhan- nock, following a lengthy illness. Born Aug. 26, 1904 at Lutes Comers, she was the daughter of the late Nathan and Minnie Kresge. Prior to her death, she was a resi- dent of the Carpenter Care Nursing Home in Tunkhannock for the last four years. She resided in the Noxen area all her life and her husband, Clarence, died in 1949. She was also preceded in death by a son, Warren and a daughter, Betty Lou- ise. Surviving is one brother, Kenenth Kresge and his wife, Mary, of Noxen; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Hilda Kresge of Lake Wells, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Interment was in Orcutt Ceme- tery, Noxen. "MARY EVANS Mary Evans, 79, of RD 3, Wyo- ming, died October 13, 1988 in the Leader West Nursing Center, where she had been a patient for the past two months. Born in Centermoreland, she: was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Santee Goble. Mrs. Evans attended the Center- moreland schools, later moving to Harding. . She had worked at Rex Shoe, Emkay Manufacturing, and later at Consolidated Citar, retiring in 1961. She had also worked as a tele- phone operator at the Harding Ex- change. - Mrs. Evans was a member of the First Congregational Church, West Pittston; and was also a member of the Sennipah Class of the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Draper, whodied in 1981; and son, Robert, who died in 1954. Mrs. Evans and her husband had been married for 53 years. Surviving are sons, Donald, Tho- mas R., both of West Pittston; daugh- ter, Mrs. Faye Perry, Carverton; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchil- dren. Interment was in Memorial Shrine ~ Cemtery, Carverton. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, West Pittston. FRANK FABIAN SR. Frank E. Fabian Sr., 85, of 61 W. Meadow St., Chase Manor, Shaver- town, died Oct. 14, 1988 at the family home. ~ He was born April 25, 1903 in Larksville, son of the late Andrew and Maria Katarnia Fabian. He resided in Plymouth for manyyears, prior to moving to Chase 29 years HE Fabian attended Larksville ~ Borough Schools. He was a member of St. Stephen's Church, Plymouth; the Jackson Township Hose Company; the Paint- ers and Glazers Union. Mr. Fabian was last employed at ~ the Riddon Glass Company, Wilkes- Barre. His first wife, Mary Ridzon Fa- bian, died in 1953. Reese, Plains; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and best friend, Beatrice Headman, Dallas. Interment was in the Huntsville Cemetery. MILDRED GITTINS Mildred Gittins, 85, of Carverton, died Oct. 15, 1988 in the Leader West Nursing Center, Kingston. Born in Salem Township on July 5, 1903, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Alice Fink Edwards. She had been a Carverton resident for the past 50 years. She was preceded in death by brother, Loran Edwards and grand- son, Kevin Searfoss. Surviving are husband, Burt; brother, Robert Edwards, Holiday, Fla.; daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Ann Edwards Searfoss, Carverton; sev- eral nieces and nephews. Interment was in Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas. HARRY HARLOS Harry Arthur Harlos, 104, of Miami, Florida, formerly of Jackson Township, died Oct. 16, 1988 at his home in Miami. Born Nov. 29, 1983, he was the son of George and Cornelia Harlos. He moved from Jackson Town- ship to Miami in 1952. He was preceded in death by daughter, June B. Deater, and great- granddaughter, Sheri Lynn Hopper. Surviving are his wife, Hazel of Miami; sons, Harry A. Jr., Morris- town, N.J.; Robert W., Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Miriam L. VERNA LAMOREAUX Verma J. Lamoreaux, 97, of the Meadows Apartments, Lake Street, Dallas, died Oct. 11, 1988 in the Riverstreet Manor Nursing Home, Wilkes-Barre. Born at the Outlet, Harveys Lake, onFeb. 14, 1891, she was the daugh- ter of the late Philip and Louisa Dexter Lamoreaux. She resided in the Back Moun- tain area most of her life. She had been employed as the first cook for the Pocono Bible Conference and worked in the Dallas High School Cafeteria. She also was a house mother for three student dormitories in Phila- delphia and at the Wilkes-Barre Hospital School of Nursing. Miss Lamoreaux was a member of the former Glenview Primitive Method- ist Church, Fernbrook. There are no immediate survi- vors. : Interment was in the Lehman Center Cemetery. STANLEY MINER Stanley W. Miner, 73, of RD 2, Harveys Lake, died Oct. 15, 1988 at his home. 2 He was born at Harveyville, Feb. 17, 1915, son of the former Claudine Taylor, with whom he resided and the late Stanley B. Miner. He re- sided in Hawaii for 27 years before moving to Harveys Lake 10 years ago. He was employed as a chef for the Fox Hill Country Club and the Golden Palace. Mr. Miner was a member of the Moose Lodge 127, Wilkes-Barre and the Legion of Moose. He was preceded in death by his | wife, the former Maria H. Mathias and brothers, Floyd Taylor and Ernest Daily. Surviving in addition to his mother, are a son, Stanley Miner, Vista, Calif.; daughter, Claudine Oney, Wilkes-Barre; stepsons, Jessie Mathias, Ocean Side, Calif.; Louis DeLima, Ocean Side, Calif.; Edwin DeLima, Fla.; brother, Claude Mi- nor, Harveys Lake; sister, Dorothy Bidding, Harveys Lake; stepsisters, Hazle Russomano, Newark, N.J.; Elizabeth Assaturo, Newark, N.J.; 16 grandchildren; six great-grand- children. Interment was in Bloomingdale, Cemetery. EDWARD McDADE Edward W. McDade, 70, of Sun- set Street, Dallas died Oct. 14, 1988 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Edward W. and Ger- trude Wivell Mcdade, Sr. He was a graduateof GAR High School and attended Wilkes Col- lege. Before retiring in 1983, he was employed as a letter carrier out of the Dallas Post Office. Mr. McDade was the first door-to-door letter carrier in Dallas. He was a member of Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas and its Holy Name Society. He was a disabled army veteran of World War II, having served in Europe. He was also amember of the Daddow Isaac American Legion Post 672, Dallas and the Antracite Post 283 F.F.W., Kingston. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Meehan; sons, Edward J., Agawam, Mass.; Jan, San Diego, Calif.; Gary, Lehman; daughter, Mrs. Joan Lee Rovinsky, Shavertown; sisters, Mrs. Margaret Flanagan; Mrs. Gertrude Hufnagel, both of Selingsgrove; Mrs. Marion Wick, New York; Mrs. Lucille Rakosky, Ohio; eight grandchildren. He was also a member of the Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg; the Irem Temple; and was an honor- ary member of the Northmoreland Township Fire Company. Mr. Weaver was preceded in death by a brother, William; sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Reiser and Mrs. Eleanor Cadwallader. The board members approved the appointment of Marilyn Neifert, Lake-Noxen cafeteria worker, to the position of cafeteria manager in the same building to replace Joy Schuler, who resigned. Mrs. Neifert’s hours will increase from six to six and a half hours daily and she will receive an additional 25 cents per hour as manager. Kathryn Short was approved as a three hour cafe- terla worker at the Lake-Noxen School at an hourly rate of $3.55. Catherinie Daubert of Trucksville and Cynthia Sutton of Lehman were approved as cafeteria substitutes. The board members alsoapproved a resolution calling upon the mem- bers of the General Assembly to pass on or before Nov. 30, 1988, legislation in support of the Com- monwealth comprehensive tax re- form as originally expressed by the Pennsylvania Local Government Conference with copies to be for- warded to the appropriate area representatives of the State General Assembly. Board members by a 7-1 vote, Robert Emery voting in the nega- tive, approved the addition of the Pennsylvania School Board Association's Code of Ethics for School Board Members to Board Police No. 004, Memberhip. The next regular meeting of the board will be Tuesday, Nov. 8, 8 p.m., in the gymnasium of the Lake- Lehman Junior High School.
