8 THE DALLAS POST/Wednesday, August 24, 1988 Penn State Advisors New members of the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Advisory Board were recently hosted at an Balavage named police sergeant ‘Chief Paul M. Sabol of the Kingston Township Police Department recently announced the pro- motion of one member of his department and the addition of a new full time police officer. Sergeant James Balavage has been elevated from the rank of Patrolman to fill the position of Sergeant/Criminal Investigator, left vacant fol- lowing the resignation of Gary Beisel. Balavage is a seven year veteran of the Kingston Township Police Department. In addition to his Act 120 training, Sgt. Balavage has undertaken special- ized training in Crime Scene Search and Evi- dence Collection along with Police Photography. Former part time Patrolman Robert Weiss has been appointed as a full time police officer. Weiss had previously served with the department 1 1/ 2 years on a part time basis. Weiss has com- pleted Act 120 Training and is certified in the operation of VASCAR and ESP speed timing devices. Patrolman Weiss has also completed training with the U.S. Army Military Police. More than 50 Penn State Wilkes-Barre stu- dents and their parents from a six state region took part in a Housing Day held recently at the campus in Lehman. The University's Student Programs and Services Department coordi- nated the chance for families to meet with local realtors and landlords about housing for stu- dents for the 1988-89 school year. The pro- gram also included campus tours, academic information, advising and counseling infor- mation. Displays were on hand to highlight student life on the Wilkes-Barre campus along with local merchant and banking information.
