Dallas Junior High schedule | Preparations for the opening of the Dallas Junior High School have been underway. Gilbert R. Griffiths, Prin- icpal, and his staff have been busy all summer readying the building and program for the opening classes on Wednesday, Sept. 7 The school’s master schedule hasbeen constructed to provide each student with a well-rounded program of sub- jects supplemented with numerous co- guiculer and extra-curricular activi- es. Sixth-, seventh-, eighth-, and ninth- grade students will report to the junior high school building between 7:45 and 8 a.m. Sixth-grade students, upon arrival at school, will report directly to the mezzanine. Seventh-grade stu- dents, unon arrival at school, will report directly to the gymnasium. Eight-grade students will report di- rectly to the auditorium while ninth graders meet in the cafeteria. At this time, a short orientation program in- cluding assignment to homerooms will be made. Students will then be in- structed to report to their homerooms in preparation for their first day of school. To insure greater security of student lockers, combination padlocks will be available to rent for a $2.00 refundable fee. Students are asked to please bring $2.00 to school the first day. Locks will be available from the homeroom teach- ers. Personal locks are not permitted. Students will be able to purchase a ‘nutritious lunch beginning with the first day of school. Dallas kindergarten starts September 7 For Dallas kindergarten to fifth grade students who attend the Dallas Ele- mentary School, school will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 7. The professional staff has been preparing the buildings and participating in in-service orienta- tions prior to the opening of school to ale the first day as smooth as pos- sible. Parents are reminded that on Septem- ber7, first to fifth grade students will be attending full day sessions from 9:10 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. Parents should consult the bus routes published in the newspapers to determine their child's bus assignment and departure points. It is requested that students ride a bus to and from school the first day to facilitate students awareness of their bus assignment and to aid the district in maintaining accurate and comprehensive student transportation records. Ifit is necessary fora parent to accompany a child to school it is sug- gested that the student ride the bus and the parent meet th students at the school building. Kindergarten students will attend pre- arranged sessions on Wednesday, Sept. 7 and Thursday, Sept. 8. On Friday, Sept. 9, morning students will take buses to school and be dismissed at 10:30. Afternoon students will be picked up for a 2:15 arrival at school and be dismissed with other students at the end of the day. Monday, Sept. 12, they will attend regularly sched- uled kindergarten sessions. To facilitate student room assignments the first day the following plans have & been developed. All fifth grade stu- dents will report to Mrs. Jesse's room (#304). All fourth grade students will report to Mrs. Myer's rooin (#113). Third grade students will report to Mrs. Utter’s room (#204). Second grade students will report to the cafeteria and first grade students to the gym. District asks for early registration The Dallas School District is request- ing the cooperation of parents with children of school age who have not registered for the 1988-89 school year. Mr. Gerald Wycallis, Superintendent, says it is essential that the school district be informed of all new students planning to register, especially the kindergarten and first grade students. Problems occur with class assignments and transportation when students are registered late. He said the Dallas School District encourages parents of new students or those transferring from other schools to register their children immediately. All kindergarten through 5th, grade students are to register at the Admini- stration Building, Church St., Dallas. Junior and Senior High students will register at their respective school of- fices located on Conyngham Ave., Dallas. Parents must bring birth certificates, report cards from the previous school, and immunication records. No stu- dent will be allowed to enter school without proof of the required immuni- zations.
