You’ll notice some different type ~ styles and layout in this week’s issue of The Dallas Post. That’s because we are in the process. of installing new typesetting equip- ment. This is necessary because under local ownership, The Post must provide finished pages to its printer. Previously, The Post was produced entirely at the facilities of the Press-Enterprise in Blooms- burg, its former owner. While the transition will be pain- ful at times, in the end we will be able to give readers a more timely and attractive newspaper. Once we are fully installed, advertising and news deadlines can be shortened and the employees of The Post will have full control of its layout. Technology buffs will want to know that our new system is based on Apple Macintosh computers and an Apple Laser Writer II NT printer. It will allow us to produce Bible school to meet Victory Village Vacation Bible School at Community Church meets from August 8-12 from 6:30 -8:39 ~ p.m. Children from age two through those who have completed sixth grade this year are welcome “and encouraged to attend. Daniels actually shut down for a few days because access to his business was almost completely restricted from the highway. A trench was dug in front of his store, and at times the entrance to his driveway was completely cut off from the highway. “The PennDOT officials couldn’t care less. They claimed they couldn’t do anything in the face of progress. One inspector said if I didn’t like the situation I should take them to court,”’claimed Dan- iels. American Asphalt, the contracter assigned to the project, could not be reached for comment on the claims. PennDOT officials also told Dan- iels he couldn’t receive financial compensation for the loss of his business due to the construction. Daniels hopes that business will be back to normal after the work is completed. Mr. William Dubuo owner of Bill's Diner is another merchant whose business has been effected by the construction, and he is not happy with PennDOT. “My business has gone done by about 50 percent since the construc- tion started. I understand that PennDOT has a job to do but I wouuld like to know what kind of schedule they are on,” said Dubuo. He isn’t happy with the delays in construction or the fact that the work has made access to his busi- ness more difficult but Dubuo admits, ‘“‘Once the construction is completed, I think the Dallas Memorial Highway will be one of the nicest in Northeastern Pennsyl- vania’’.
