Mothers of Twins group names officers The Luzerne County Mothers of Twins Club recently installed offi- cers and standing agents for the coming year. Carpenter, 4 of Har- veys Lake, will represent Pennsyl- vania in the Pee Wee Beauty Divi- sion at the 25th annual Hemisphere Pageant hosted by the city of Miami Beach, FL at the Fontain- bleau Hotel July 25-30. Contestants will be arriving from the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, the South Pacific and Guam. Each contestant will appear in regional costume representing her hometown indus- try or history and will exchange, greetings with Miami Beach Mayor, Alex Daoud. The Hemisphre Pageant is in its 25th annual year on international competition awarding over $350,000 in scholarships, international good- will tours and prizes. Half a million delegates through- out the U.S. and Canada apply annually. Competition is open to babies, children, teens and adults in the separate fields of beauty, model and talent. Melissa is a pre-kindergarten stu- dent at Holy Name of Jesus in Forty Fort. She also studies ballet and tap at the Joan Harris Centre for gifted and talented and attends modeling lessons at Marilyn’s Mod- eling and Finishing School. Her parents are Pat and David Carpen- ter of Harveys Lake. Her grandpar- ents are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carpenter and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Howe all of Wilkes-Barre. Missy is trying to obtain sponsor- ship through local merchants. She has won the Pee Wee title of Miss Hemisphere (Wilkes-Barre) and the state title of Pee Wee PA. Meagan Wega Meagan Wega presented with Lyons award The Edward J. Lyons Memorial Award was presented to Meagan Wega, Dallas Junior High School freshman, for exemplary character and integrity as demonstrated in school and community activities. Miss Wega was the first recipient of the annual award which was established to honor the memory of Dallas Borough Police Chief Edward J. Lyons. Pictured are Mrs. Rita Lyons and Meagan Wega. At a recent meeting of Dallas Assembly 144 for Rainbow Girls, Kristen Hardisky was installed as Worthy Advisor for the - ensuing term. Miss Hardisky, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Hardisky of Dallas, will be entering her sophomore year at Dallas Senior High School in the fall. The Rainbow Girls helped at the recent barn raisings by serving food. They will also be holding a hoagie sale on July 8 and’ visiting nursing homes with puppies and kittens from the S.P.C.A.
