Fireworks at Kirby Park Saturday The annual Kirby Park Fire- works will take place on Saturday, July 2, at Kirby Park, Wilkes- Barre. Heart Association plans fundraisers The Luzerne County Division of the American Heart Association is planning to hold two fund-raising activities to support the mission of the AHA. The two events, “Cardiac Arrest” and a Celebrity Auction, will coincide with the opening of the Farmers Market, June 30, on Public Square. Ted Wampole, President of the local Division, said that the Car- diac Arrest will begin at 10 a.m. and will last until approximately 4 ‘p.m. Prominent citizens from Luz- erne County will be ‘incarcerated’ for “failure to have a heart”. Kingston Township meeting will discuss $140,000 grant The Luzerne County Redevelop- ment Authority, in conjunction with the Township of Kingston will conduct a Public Hearing on June 29, 1988 at 6:30 p.m. in the Kingston Township Municipal Building, 11 Carverton Road, Trucksville, PA on the Town- ship’s application to the Pennsyl- vania Department of Community Affairs for a $140,000 community development grant. The grant, if approved, would be used by the Board of Supervisors to make improvements to the Trucksville, Trucksville Gardens, Meadow- crest, Cliffside and Mt. Edge- wood Heights sections of the Township. Under the proposed applica- tion, a two-phase community development project would be instituted. Under Phase I, low interest home rehabilitation loans would be awarded to qualified residents within the project area. The loans may be used to finance home renovationr and to correct existing code violations. Under Phase II, a program of site improvements would be under- taken. These would consist of resurfacing Old Carverton Road, storm drainage and resurfacing + for Cliffside Avenue, storm drain- age and resurfacing for Meadow- crest Avenue, storm drainage and resurfacing for Terrace Avenue, Highland Avenue and a portion of Spring Garden Street.
