From time to time we write about all the great time people have vacationing, the places they visit, the beaches, etc. As a per- sonal news writer I have always taken the stand that if it didn’t compliment the person or organiza- tion my column was not the place for it. As a result of about 11 years of writing, I’ve gained the reputa- tion of being a ‘light reading” columnist which I myself enjoy Ba. 2. also. -0- SOME very good friends of ours who just returned from a vacation at Cancun Island and you’ll read about it in this issue also decided to spend a one day trip at Atlantic City this past Saturday. Being a close friend of Theresa Thompson and knowing she’s always running late, it is with great appreciation for her dilemma that I share her experience Satur- day. It went something like this: Theresa and Ed and Theresa’s sister and brother-in-law took a bus to Atlantic City. They were instructed when they left the bus that morning for their day at the casinos what time the bus would depart at night, those not on time would miss it. Ed and brother-in- law arrived back on time, Theresa and sister didn’t arrive...and didn’t arrive, and you have to know Ed who’s been a salesman all his life and can outtalk everyone-trying to convince the bus driver to wait. Well, the end of the story is Ed lost his first verbal sale, the bus left without them, but Ed waited and he joined Theresa on another bus that was kind enough to give them seats. Win or lose, it was a day to remember--just one more time of “running late.” Lehman Cub Scout Pack 241 sponsored by the Lehman United Methodist Church recently held its Blue and Gold dinner at Gus Genetti’s Best Western. The wel- come was given by Bob Bullock, assistant chairman, to Cub Scouts, parents and guests Mary Chappell, Ralph Hillman and Dick Sarmonis representing Penn Mountains Coun- cil and Mary Lou Swingle. Mem- bers of the Webelos and Tigers presented the flag ceremony. Entertainment was by magician, Cosmic Louie. Gold and silver arrows, perfect attendance pins, conservation awards, winter fun segments, belt BOB AND BRENDA SHEP- HERD, former Haddonfield Hills residents and very good friends visited us on the weekend. The Shepherds lived in Dallas for sev- eral years and were relocated to Ashville, North Carolina. It has been 10 years since we saw them and what a pleasure to have them for a short visit again. Brenda was very active in the Dallas Juniors when living here. Many of you will remember her and get some pleas- ant memories going as you read this I'm sure. CLARK VAN ORDEN, former Back Mountain resident and also former Dallas Twp. police officer is being recognized a lot lately for his photography abilities. Clark has been a newspaper photographer for a few papers over the years, most recently with the Time Leader and has been receiving awards for his talents, from time to time. Congrat- ulations Clark, it’s always good to hear good things about good people. Franklin’s honored JOHN SHASKAS, chairman of the 1988 Back Mountain Memorial Library Auction reports everything is in order and the planning stages are now over and actual work is underway.
