Host families needed for foreign students Host families are needed for a a group of French, Spanish, and ~~ German exchange students who will be arriving in the area this ‘summer for a one-month homestay ‘with an American family. The first group of foreign exchange students arrives on July 26 and departs on August 23. Participation in the summer host- ing program involves sharing home and family life with a French, Spanish, or German student, ages 13-18 for a period of four weeks. The students all speak English, bring their own spending money, and the organization provides com- prehensive medical, accident, and liability insurance as well as trans- portation to the host family. The coordinators are looking for average American families willing to share their everyday activities with the exchange students for one ~ month and to treat the student as a member of the family and not as a guest. Families with teenage chil- dren, families without children, as well as families with younger chil- dren are encouraged to apply. Also needed are families willing ~ to host one of the teacher-chaper- ones who will accompany the stu- dents. They are teachers of English in France, Spain and Germany. Scott Dietterick said recently that the 1988-89 filing dead- line for all students seeking to renew their aid from the Pennsyl- vania State Farm Grant is May 1. The deadline applies regardless of the student’s program of study and applies for all the applicants who plan to enroll in bachelor degree programs including those enrolling in college transfer pro- grams at two-year community or junior colleges. Individuals seeking aid for the first time and planning to enroll in business or trade schools, hospital schools of nursing or two-year vocational (non-transferable) pro- grams at community or junior col- leges have until Aug. 1 to file their state grant applications.
