this week that he will not be a
candidate to succeed himself as

was broken inte by robbers

Crump honored for service
A picture was presented to Mrs. Crump with the inscription,
“In tribute to Florence T. Crump for her dedication to
children and libraries on her 93rd Birthday, Dec. 3, 1987.
The presentation was made possible through the generosity
of Jane McMichael, staff member at the library. Nancy
Kozemchak is the assistant librarian at the library and library
correspondent for The Dallas Post. Mrs. Crump has spent a
great deal of her 93 years working with children and the |,
Back Mountain Memorial Library. The picture will hang in the
main entrance of the library. Pictured from left to right are
Jane McMichael, Nancy Kozemchak and seated, Florence
Crump.
PA CPA’s sponsoring
student competition
The Pennsylvania Institute of
Certified Public Accountants
(PICPA) is sponsoring its 13th
annual Student Manuscript
Competition. Robert C. Light-
burn, CPA, chairman of the
‘Pennsylvania CPA Journal’
Editorial Board, related that,
“The purpose of the contest is to
encourage college students to
address those issues which will.
affect the future of the account-
ing profession.”
The competition is open to all
junior, senior and graduate stu-
dents majoring in accounting at
Pennsylvania colleges and uni-
versities. A committee com-
posed of EPAs in public
accounting, industry, govern-
- ment and education will review
the manuscripts. Cash awards
of $1,000, $600 and $400 respec-
tively will be awarded for the
three best articles. In addition,
accounting societies which
submit the winning manuscripts
on behalf of individual students
will receive a matching grant.
Over $16,700 in prize money has
been awarded to students since
the Student Manuscript Compe-
tition began in 1976. |
The first place winning article
will be published in the summer
1988 issue of the ‘‘Pennsylvania
CPA Journal.”

HONTZ, ARTHUR R., of
North Pioneer Ave., Shaver-
town, died Jan. 2, 1988 in Nes-
bitt Memorial Hospital, Kings-
ton.
Surviving are his wife, the
"former Mildred Carkeek;
daughters, Maj. Sheryl M.
Hontz, R.N., U.S. Air Force,
Dover, Del.; Mrs. L. Nancy
Wendel, Trucksville; six grand-
children; 12 great-grandchil-
dren.
* MOHEN, ROSE MARIE, 70,
of Hemlock Drive, Oak Hill,
Dallas died Dec. 31, 1987 at
General Hospital.
She was active in Rotary Dis-
trict activities but also with
Wilkes-Barre Women of Rotary,
where she was honored as a
Paul Harris Fellow in 1986 in
recognition of her long associa-
tion with Rotary International.
She was a member of Gate of
Heaven Church and its Altar
and Rosary Society. She had
recently been Oak Hill chairper-
son for the Bishop’s Appeal for
Gate of Heaven parish. She was
also active with College Miseri-
cordia and was past president of
the Dallas Women’s Club and a
member of the Harveys Lake
Women’s Club. She also had
been a volunteer in the Channel
44 auction.
Surving in addition to her
husband, Leo, are daughters,
Mrs. Robert J. (Maria)
McNelis, Columbia Md.; Mrs.
Francis M. (Ann Marie) Spag-
nuolo, Hudson, Plains Twp.;
sons, Leo F. Mohen Jr., Colum-
bia, Md. and Eugene J., Kissi-
mee, Fla.; sister, Carmella
Vatalaro, Scranton; 10 grand-
children.
Entombment was in St.
Mary’s Mausoleum, Hanover
Township.
BROWN, JENNIE, 88, of
Overlook Drive, Horseheads,
N.Y., died Jan. 3, 1988 in Arno-
Ogden Hospital, Elmira, N.Y.
She had resided at Parrish St.,
Dallas, for many years moving
to Horseheads three years ago.
Surviving are a son, Warren
L., Horseheads, N.Y.
