THANKSGIVING, the one day when our entire country concen- trates on thanking God for our many blessings, will be cele- brated this week. Personally, I Joan have been blessed with so many : wonderful things, my family, | friends, students. To all our KINGSBURY | readers, I extend a sincere wish for a wonderful Thanksgiving. SPEAKING OF BEING THANKFUL, last week parish- ioners of Gate of Heaven Church celebrated the 35th anni- versary of our church. A week- long mission was conducted by Rev. Father Edward Wolanski of the Passionist Fathers. The spiritual inspiration those who attended the mission received is indescribable. . On Friday, a reception was held following the conclusion of the mission. Our former pas- tors, Monsignor Francis A. Kane, who was the first pastor and founder of our parish, and Monsignor Thomas Jordan, attended the Mass and celebra- tion on Friday. Many parishioners had the opportunity to renew acquaint- ances with these two former pastors. And yes, Monsignor Kane still has a beautiful voice as he proved when he sang “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling”’. Special gratitude to our pastor, Father Cusick and assistant pastor Father Langan for choosing this wonderful way to celebrate Gate of Heaven’s 35th anniversary. Also special thanks to Mrs. Ellen Casterline, president of our Altar and Rosary Society and all the ladies who baked such beautiful things for the reception, and worked so hard to make the evening a special one. -0- GET WELL WISHES to Mrs. Annette Rebar, a very nice lady, who has been a patient at Nesbitt Memorial Hospital. There are miniature gears in the cab, a spare tire under the trailer, doors that open in the back and all wood wheels on the truck. This 18 wheeler is the first wooden toy made by Paul and it is painted white with black tires and silver wheel covers. He has sold four or five of these trucks to truckers unfinished and the truckers have painted them to their own specifications. Included in the display is a road roller and an engine with coal tender in natural wood. These toys are made from natu- with lathes, saws and sanders. Paul has been making toys for about three years and takes orders for specific designs at his sporting goods store on the Lehman Outlet Road. He learned how to make these when he was out West from an Complete Line of Tile Products Zz by Lt. Robert old toy maker, and what started as a hobby has turned into a business.
