The Back Mountain
Memorial Library circulated
6,494 books during the month
of September, 3,950 adult
and 2,544 juvenile titles.
Book Club circulated 212
books and 129 members
joined the library.
Patrick McDonald, a
student at Penn State local
campus, has assumed the
janitorial position as we said
gloalye to Michael
atchulonis who is attending
college out of town. Two new
volunteers began at the
library, Patricia Attridge
and Noel Thomas and RSVP
has sent another volunteer,
Virginia Davis. Deneen
Gosko, a student from
College Misericordia, is
working five hours a week
on the work study program.
The children’s room is
again actively involved in
the story hour program with
64 children divided into four
sessions and 14 children on
the waiting list. The four
story ladies include Carol
Oliver, Janice Swepston,
Susan Davis and Jane
Lasecki. The Toddler
Storytime is being held on
Tuesday mornings.
The Penn State Lehman
campus library has recently
converted to the computer
system and has donated
several sections of their card
catalog to the Jhpany. We
are indeed grateful for this
order of state police at Wyoming Barracks. Police
cited the Bingo was in violation of state gambling
laws.
Town Meeting Project of the Horizons ’76 Committee
of the Luzerne County Bicentennial Commission was
held. Co-chairmen of the Town meeting were Mrs.
Margaret Borton and Dr. Mahmoud Fahmy, Dallas.
Deaths - John C. Davis, Idetown; Joseph Patrick
Quigley, Harveys Lake; Anthony J. Boback, Trucks-
ville; Grace Dimmick Trucksville; Leo Gilroy, Dallas.
You could get - Boneless round steak $1.39 Ib.;
London Broil $1.59 1b.; Kraft Parkay margarine 2 pkg.
89c; orange juice 64 oz. bottle 69c; kidney beans 4 cans
addition which enables us to
relieve some of the over-
crowding in our catalog.
Lindsey and Ellen, two
lovely little four year old
twins, were checking their
books out the other day and
stopped to look over our
fancy soaps display.
Evidently, this is a routine
stop for them when leaving
the library. One of the twins
said, ‘There’s Garfield, he’s
my favorite’ and the other
Santa Clauses. Also, there
are two pigs in the Jishiay
and ney advised me that
one of the pigs had turned
upside down.
One cute little boy was in
one day admiring the
transformers that are on
display and actually began
talking to them. Some of the
things he said were, ‘I want
this one, right now’; ‘I would
like this one for Christmas’;
and ‘I’m going to slap you,
you're a bad guy’.
These bad guys must act
up at night because the other
morning when we came in, a
number of the transformers
were out of Posiiion
Hopefully, the good guys
won. An interesting
coincidence: a cartoon in a
local newspaper the other
day showed a picture of a
boy playing with a
transformer with mother
standing over him. The
caption read, “I suggest you
transform yourself into a
student and do your
homework.’ An interesting
tie-in for our display.
