The Lake-Lehman Band Sponsors will present their fifth annual “March of Champions’ competition on October 18 at Nanticoke High School Stadium. Fourteen high school marching bands from Eastern Pennsylvania and two from New York State will compete in four classes. Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place per class as well as for the special categories: best music, best marching band and best band front in each class. The ‘John Miliauskas’”’ trophy will be presented to the band having the highest overall score and the best drum major will also receive an award. The participating bands in Group I are Nanticoke Area, Pittston Area, Hazleton, Mid-Valley, Dallas, Free- land and Lackawanna Trail. Knights wil The Knights of Columbus Council 8224, Dallas, will hold their Annual Memorial Mass for all deceased members of the council and Father John J. O’Leary for’ whom the council was named on October 26. Father O’Leary died on October 24, 1957, at the age of 70. He was Chaplain of the 3rd Division in World War I, and severely wounded when a shell hit a first-aid station while he was attending wounded soldiers. In 1926, Father was appointed pastor of a new Dallas parish which at that time included Our Lady of Victory Mission Chapel, Harveys Lake.
