PAGE TWELVE By CHARLOT M. DENMON Staff Correspondent Ron Rybak, who is beginning his second year as head football coach at Bishop O’Reilly, has a wide background of experience in the field of coaching. His coaching career started at Dallas 20 years ago when he was junior high coach under the leadership of Mountai- neer Varsity Coach Ed Brominski. Fol- lowing Brominski’s retirement from coaching, Rybak served as assistant coach under Head Coach Jack Jones. When Jones relinguished the reins as varsity coach at Dallas Senior High, ~ Rybak was appointed to that position which he held for six years. During those years, Rybak led the teams to a co- » \ championship one season, and to a 4-6-1, and a 6-5 record in two other seasons. Following the end of the 1984 season, Rybak resigned from his post at Dallas, - and in the summer of 1985 accepted the position as head coach at Bishop O’Reilly. Interest in football had declined at Bishop O’Reilly and many of the fans had little hope of the program being success- ful. Rybak accepted the challenge and the O’Reilly team ended the 1985 season with a 6-4 record. ! “We were only two touchdowns away from an 8-2 season,” said Rybak. “We were playing Lake-Lehman even until the final period when they scored a touch- down on us. We didn’t have time to come back and we lost 7-0. In our game with Bishop Hoban, we were leading 8-6 in the WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27, 1986 second half when they broke a punt return and went on to win 15-8.” Rybak, who is a member of the faculty at Dallas Junior High School, is a resi- dent of Nanticoke. He and his wife are the parents of two sons, both outstanding athletes. His one son comes out to assist him at Bishop O’Reilly just as he did when Rybak was at Dallas. ‘‘After so many years, I still miss the kids at Dallas,” said Rybak, ‘But these kids at Bishop O’Reilly are great. Many of them are from the Back Mountain area.” Rybak said whether Dallas or Bishop O'Reilly, he is doing what he enjoys doing most, coaching the kids. He is having a good time coaching at Bishop O'Reilly because that is all he has to do, devote his time to coaching. on ons HOUNTAIN VIDE® 78-0190 FERNBROOK PLAZA ROUTE 309 DALLAS, PA 18612 Good Luck Football '86/Charlot N- Boron RON RYBAK PIZZA PERFECT 16 Carverton Road 696-2100 696-3888 You've never had it so good.
