and sent to the publisher on June 30.
Delivery is expected in late August
or early September.
The Dallas Post will announce the
arrival of the yearbooks. Students
are asked not to inquire at school
offices about the yearbook arrivals.
Turkey Hill plans
to build shop |
in Back Mountain
The Turkey Hill Minit Mart fran-
chise will soon be expanding its
operation to the Back Mountain.
The building will be located
across from the Merchants bank,
which is situated at the intersection
of Rts. 118 and 415.
Joe Paglianite, a Dallas Township
resident and owner of Joe’s Grotto
Pizza at Harveys Lake, said he
leased the property to the Turkey
Hill company out of Lancaster and
that it will be a market-service
station type business.
“They approached me about
building the mart over the
summer,” Paglianite said. “From
what I understand they are going to
start building in a few weeks and it
should take about eight weeks to

the end of band camp signals the
beginning of a very busy season.
When Drum Majors Kristen
McHenry and Patricia Chismer lead
the band onto the field Aug. 30, it
will be the start of not only the pre-
game show for the Dallas-Hanover
football game but also the beginning
of a new marching season. Along
with entertaining the football fans,
the band is preparing for Tourna-
ment of Bands competition.

On the evening of Sept. 3 the
‘Dallas Band will uphold another
tradition when they perform a musi-
cal program at the opening ceremo-
nies of the Luzerne County Fair.
Sept. 6, brings something new to
the band — a music competition at
Rocky Glen Park.
The band is under the direction of
Steve Saive, instructional staff
includes Lisa Sigman-Marching and
Maneuvering; Lori and Leslie Del-
Gaudio, Band Front Coordinators
and Choreography; and Karen
Arnaud, Strutters.
The first annual Luzerne County
Fair OPEN Horseshoe Pitching
Tournament will be held Saturday,
Sept. 6 and Sunday, Sept. 7 at the
Luzerne County fairgrounds during
fair weekend.
Preliminary qualifications will be
held on Saturday to determine Class
A and Class B players. On Sunday,
at 4 pm. Class A and Class B
players will compete for first place
trophies and prize money. National
Horseshoe Pitching Association
rules will be followed. The weekend
tournament is non-sanctioned.
Over $300.00 will be awarded in
cash prizes, along with trophies. To
register, please send your name and
registration fee of $5.00 to the Luz-
erne County Fair, c-o Open Horse-
shoe Pitching Tournament, P.O.
Box 393, Dallas, PA 18612. The
tournament is open to women as
well as men. The deadline for regis-
tering is August 30.
The tournament is sponsored by
the Dallas Area Horseshoe Club.
