All chil- dren are welcome to attend. ° -0- THE TRI-STATE SOCIETY of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation will conduct 'its upcoming quarterly meeting at 7:30 p.m. in Nesbitt Memorial Hospital's diningroom on Wednesday, July 16. The objective of the Tri-State Society is to improve communica- tion between Cardiac-Pulmonary Rehabilitation Centers in an effort to enhance the quality of care pro- vided by the centers. Carl Seitz, M.S., Exercise Specialiat at Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, is serving as coordinator for this upcoming meet- ing. William Marley Ph.D., President of the Tri-State Society and assist- ant to the Medical Director of the Human Performance Laboratory at Holy Redeemer Hospital and Medi- cal Center will present an overview of the Society’s Second Annual Sym- posium, future plans for the society and the cardiac rehab program at Holy Redeemer along with several case studies. The Society rotates quarterly meetings at locations in Pennsyl- vania, New Jersey and Delaware with the fourth quarter meeting serving as the annual symposium. This meeting provides an excellent opportunity for the staff members of cardiac rehabilitation programs in northeastern Pennsylvania to meet many leaders in this field and to establish contacts with members of other area rehabilitation pro- grams. Refreshments will be served following the meeting. -0- A CALIFORNIA COOLER dance and skate party will be held on Wednesday, July 16, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Rollaway, Route 415, Dallas. Admission is $3 which includes skates and prizes will be awarded every hour. Those having jams are asked to wear them. Monies raised from the party will benefit the Dallas Soccer Club’s trip to California. FRANCES SLOCUM STATE PARK will hold nature presenta- tions, free to the general public, on the weekends of July 18 and 25. Saturday, July 19, at 2 p.m. the film, ‘‘Birds: How They Live, Where They Live’ starts the avian weekend theme. A talk by Park Naturalist Angela Wassel, on “Attracting and Feeding Birds” will follow the film. Participants can then see the parks attempt to attract bluebirds by observing next boxes on the park’s ‘‘Bluebird Trails.” Sunday, July 20 at 2 p.m., the bird theme continues with the slide pres- entation ‘‘Nature’s Beauties” by William Evans. Mr. Evans, Trea- surer of the Greater Wyoming Valley Audubon Society, reaches new heights with his beautiful slides of birds in natural areas throughout the North Eastern United States. Frances Slocum Lake will be the focal point for programs the week- end of July 25. At 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, Mr. Ed Kupsky, Aquatic Biologist for the Water Quality Management Bureau, presents the topic ‘Lake Ecology’. Starting with the film “Life In A Pond’, Mr. Kupsky will elaborate on such things as lake food chains, temperatures, oxygen content, PH and how these things affect lake ecosystems. Using microscopes, visitors will also be able to examine live lake speci- mens. Sunday, July 27 from 12 to 4 p.m., the PA Fish Commission’s Educa- tional Van will present a Water Safety Program. At 12 noon at Frances Slocum Lake, Ms. Janet Mayer, Educa- tional Van Operator and Boating Education Specialist, will provide various educational materials as well as canoes for participation in basic water safety techniques.
