Tech graduates
West Side Tech held its 18th annual commencement on
Thursday, June 11, 1986 at 6 p.m. An organ recital by Brenda
Nightbert was presented at 5:30 p.m. George W. Pyle,
Administrative Director, presented the class to Anthony J.
Sobeski, President of WSAVTS School Board who presented
diplomas to 153 graduates. Irvin T. DeRemer, Acting Principal
recognized honor and award winners and certified the class for
the awarding of diplomas. The Reverend Hugh McGroarty,
Assistant Pastor, St. Cecilia’s Church, Exeter offered the
invocation and benediction. Senior addresses were delivered
by Janet Blaine, Susan Podskoch, Kimberly Vasicak, and
Martha Miller, all being highest honor students. Pictured above

Dean Murphy is a graduate of
Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio
counseling at the University of
Bridgeport, Connecticut. He started
as an assistant Dean of Student
Affairs at the Penn State Ogontz
campus in 1966 and came to the
Wilkes-Barre campus in 1967.
