Art winners Patrizia Bove and Barbara Davies, both juniors at Dallas Senior High have been selected to attend the Pennsylvania Governor's School for Art this summer. The Pennsylvania Governor's School is an annual summer program offered for artistically talented high school sophomores and juniors. The summer program will be held on the campus of Bucknell University. It is co-sponsored by the Pennsylvania Depart- ment of Education and the state's 29 intermediate units. The school offers advanced instruction in Art, Music, Photography, Dance, and Creative Writing. It enables students to develop their leadership potential and heightens career awareness in the Arts. Patrizia Bove is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Antonio Bove of Dallas. Barbara Davies is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Davies also of Dallas. Receives BA degree Judith Lynn Sholtis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Sholtis, of Dallas, recently received a Bache- lor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the Susquehanna 'University School of Arts and Sciences. A 1982 graduate of Bishop O’Reilly High School, she was a member of the Association of Women Students and served as the director of intramural sports. She is also a member of Sigma Kappa social sorority. Miss Sholtis was a four-year member of the Lady Crusader var- sity softball team and served as a captain the past two seasons. She was a four-year selection to the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Northern Division All-Star Team as a pitcher, compiling a 43-17 career record. Fowler graduates Ann Marie Evans-Fowler of Dallas graduated recently from Col- lege Misericordia during the col- lege’s 60th commencement convoca- tion. She was one of 208 men and women receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees. Ms. Fowler was awarded a Bach- elor of Science degree in Busienss Administration, and was the recipi- ent of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants Award for excellence in Accounting studies. : During her college career, Ms. Fowler was a member of the National Honor Society of Colleges, Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, and the National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Evans of Dallas, and resides in Dallas with her husband, John R. Fowler, III. LYNN MARIE BUSCH Receives BS Lynn Marie Busch, daughter of Donald and Rita Busch, Dallas, received her B.S. in Pharmacy from Temple School of Pharmacy on May 29, 1986. Lynn Marie graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the Eli Lilly Achievement Award for obtaining the highest grade point average for the junior and senior years, the Merck, Sharp & Dohme Award for having the highest aver- age for the senior year; the John R. Minehart Memorial Award for the highest average in all subjects for the last three years of Temple Pharmacy School. The money comes from corporations, trade and civic groups, foundations and little-known governmental agencies. In many cases the funds are made available to students with a specific major or occupational goal or an interest in summer internships. For 1986 the data bank has over 2,500 new summer internships. Students with a’ college major in business, law, health sciences, engi- neering and the like should apply early for fall semester grants. Michele Farris of Shavertown and Scott Davis of Dallas were recognized for their scholastic achievements and school and community activities. They will each receive $300 towards their college textbook expenses. Michele is the daughter of Tom and Ruth Farris, and in the Fall she will be attending the Wilkes-Barre Campus of the Pennsylvania State University. During her high school years, Michele was a member of the National Honor Society, Strutters, Senior Steering Committee, and was the Dallas High School Correspondent for the Dallas Post. She is very active in the Girl Scouts, and has held several leadership positions. Scott is the son of Jim and Margaret Davis, and plans on attending Bloomsburg University next Fall. He is an active member of the Shavertown Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Association. At Dallas High School he participated in volleyball and the school newspaper.
