MICHAEL FARRIS
ON MONDAY, MAY 5, the first
graders went on a field trip to the
Frances Slocum Park. They were
accompanied on the Nature Walk by
a tour guide, who drew their atten-
tion to the early spring plants and
grasses, the different kinds of trees
as shown by their leaves and bark,
and the various kinds of birds flit-
ting around the park. Before return-
ing to school, the children had lunch
in the pavilion. Everyone seemed to
enjoy the beautiful morning out of
doors.

state’, and brought in articles and
souvenirs from Hawaii to show their
classmates.

THE SEVENTH GRADERS are
enjoying their study of communica-
tions. They have seen movies on the
TV industry and are preparing a

Read-A-T-Shirt Day will be held
on Thursday, May 15, in the Lake-
Lehman Elementary Schools, spon-
sored by the ECIA Chapter I Parent
Advisory Council.
Students and staff are encouraged
to wear their favorable readable T-
Shirt, the one with their favorite

T-Shirt Day
“I Hate School, But I Love Lunch’;
“Strike Force’; etc Wearing shirts
with slogans helps to motivate the
children to try to read other shirts
worn by their friends and -class-
mates. This creates a positive and
fun attitude toward reading which
hopefully will carry over into other

visited the Dallas Junior
. Registration
8 is scheduled
The Dallas School District has
requested the cooperation of parents
who have children of school age who
have not been registered for the
1986-87 school year.
Gerald Wyecallis, Superintendent,
says it is essential that the school
district be informed of all new
students planning to register, espe-
cially the Kindergarten and First
Grade students.
Problems occur with class assign-
ments and transportation when stu-
dents are registered late. He said
the Dallas School District encour-
ages parents of new students or
those transferring from other
schools to register their children
immediately.
All Kindergarten through 6th
grade students are to register at the
Administration Building, Church
St., Dallas with Mrs. Farr. Junior
and Senior High students will regis-
ter at their respective school offices
located on Conyngham Ave.
Parents must bring birth certifi-
cates, report cards from previous
school, and immunization records.
No student will be allowed to enter
school without proof of the required
immunications.
If there are any questions, call
675-5201.
