They were accompanied on the Nature Walk by a tour guide, who drew their atten- tion to the early spring plants and grasses, the different kinds of trees as shown by their leaves and bark, and the various kinds of birds flit- ting around the park. Before return- ing to school, the children had lunch in the pavilion. Having read a story about Hawaii, one of the reading groups did projects on ‘‘the vacation state’, and brought in articles and souvenirs from Hawaii to show their classmates. -0- THE SEVENTH GRADERS are enjoying their study of communica- tions. They have seen movies on the TV industry and are preparing a variety of projects. Recently, this class has been entertained by Lori Ann Scott, who enjoys writing stories to read aloud to her classmates. 0: ON SATURDAY, MAY 17, grades one through four are having a Sports Day beginning at 9 a.m. Both the gym and outdoor playground will be used for the sports. Under the direction of Miss Ruth Kruger, the children will participate in scooter races, beanbag toss, hoola- hoop throw, and tricycle races. Gerald Wyecallis, Superintendent, says it is essential that the school district be informed of all new students planning to register, espe- cially the Kindergarten and First Grade students. Problems occur with class assign- ments and transportation when stu- dents are registered late. He said the Dallas School District encour- ages parents of new students or those transferring from other schools to register their children immediately. Cragle, daughter fo John and Char- lotte Cragle of Hunlock Creek, recently participated in the All- State Chorus Festival on May 1-3 in Pittsburgh, Pa. Lori, who has been interested in music since early childhood, has participated in District and Regional Chorus for the past three years and qualified as an alternate for the state level last year.
