Former Phillies pitcher
speaks for Easter Seals
He made “Ya gotta believe!” a
rallying cry for victory and always
let the human side show when on
the pitcher’s mound. Now, 41-year
old Tug McGraw is speaking up for
the rights of the physically and
developmentally disabled as the
1986 Honorary State Chairman for
the Pennsylvania Easter Seal
Society.
McGraw holds the National
League’s all-time record for the
most innings pitched in relief, and
currently is a consultant to the
Philadelphia Phillies from whom he
retired earlier this year after 10
seasons, following nine with the
New York Mets.
Now living in Media, PA, with his
wife, Phyllis and two children,
McGraw is a feature reporter for
Philadelphia’s WPVI-TV 6, spokes-
man for First Pennsylvania Bank,
author, cartoonist and advocate for
numerous social concerns, including
children’s rights.
As Honorary Chairman for the
Pennsylvania Easter Seal Society,
McGraw will be featured in forth-
coming Public Service Announce-
ments highlighting the Society’s
Spring ‘‘Back-a-Fighter’’ food indus-
