Sigfried Weis, President of Weis
Markets, Inc., Sunbury, announced
that Christmas Profit Sharing
Bonus checks totaling over $1,026,-
000 have been distributed to more
than 7200 employees. This is the
40th consecutive year that Weis
Markets shared a portion of its
profits with its employees.
Weis Markets has marked another
great year of growth in 1985. We
have continued our expansion
through the opening of two new
stores located in Germantown, MD
and Laurel, MD; one new Amity
House Restuarant in State College,
PA and purchased two additional
existing markets in Lock Haven, PA
and Lebanon, PA. Seven of our
existing markets have been
enlarged and modernized. A 280,000
square foot addition to the Milton
warehouse has been completed and
is in full operation as well as an
addition to Weis Food Service, Nor-
thumberland, PA.
In 1986, Weis will be opening
several new stores and remodeling
many existing markets. A new
Scranton Weis Food Service ware-
house will also be completed.
Currently Weis Markets operates
123 stores in Pennsylvania, New
York, Maryland and West Virginia.

and campus ministry made plans
for their trip.
Pallante and the girls do not
approve of violence. They do not
take sides with either the Sandinis-
tas, in control of the government, or
the Contra rebels, supported by
United States funds. It is this finan-
cial support by the United States
which is opposed by the student
groups.
According to Pallante, the move-
ment does not oppose United States
foreign policy in the Central
Amerca region. They believe, how-
ever, that the students have the
right to voice their opposition to
foreign aid for selfish countries.
They are opposed to Contra aid
because they believe the aid is for
selfish purposes and only for inter-
ests of the United States.
The American students will spend
most of their time in Nicaragua
with Unviersity of Managua stu-
dents and Sandinista government
officials.
Miss Naughton and five other
students in the group speak Spanish
fluently and this is considered a

major asset for the group in speak-
ing with the officials of the Sandi-
nista government.
If Miss Naughton has the oppor-
tunity to speak with Nicaraguan
president Daniel Ortega, she said
she would probably ask him about
the issue of human rights. ‘She said
that she does not believe the United
States policy in Nicaragua is what it
should be but neither does she
believe that the Sandinistas are
doing all that they should be doing.
Naughton also said that she would
ask Ortega where the proposed con-
stitution on human rights he had
discussed with Atty. Joseph Cos-
grove of Pittston now stands and
whether it will be a just constitution
for all people.
The 20 students chosen for the
upcoming trip to Nicaragua were
selected on the basis of achieve-
ment, scholarship, student govern-
ment and campus ministry partici-
pation and formed into a network of
opposing government by military.
Upon returning to the United
States, the students will take part in
press work, public education and
political action. They will facilitate
the flow of information about the
effects of U.S. Policy on Nicaragua -
