    Church choirs
‘Love Came Down’’, a cantata
depicting the birth of Jesus, will be
presented by the combined choirs of
the Idetown and Lehman United
Methodist Churches and Trinity
Presbyterian Church of Dallas. The
choir is directed by Shirley A.
Mahle, with accompaniment by
Elaine St. Clair as pianist and
Virginia Swanson as organist.
Two presentations will be given.
The first will be on Sunday, Dec. 15,
at 7 p.m. at the Idetown U.M.
Church, with Rev. Michael Sham-
bora as the narrator. Then, on Dec.
22, at 11 a.m. during the morning
worship service, the cantata will
once again be presented at the
Trinity Presbyterian Church with
Dr. C. Warren Koehl as the narra-

Mrs. Ruth Poynton, 214 Meadows
Apartments, Dallas, will celebrate
her 80th birthday, Wednesday, Dec.
11, at a family dinner given by her
son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. C. George Poynton of Dallas.
Mrs. Poynton, long-time resident
of the Back Mountain, lived on
Shaver Avenue, Shavertown, for 35
years before moving to The Mead-
ows Apartment Complex.
She is a member of Shavertown
United Methodist Church, the Ruth
Circle, Order of the Eastern Star,
Chapter 396; Nesbitt Memorial Hos-
pital Auxiliary and the Marathon
Card Club.
She and her late husband, Cecil
Poynton, were the parents of one
son, C. George Poynton. Mrs. Poyn-
ton has three grandchildren, Julie,
Kristel and Laura and one great-
granddaughter, Jennifer.
MELVIN EVANS
Melvin Evans, 79 Park St.
Benton, died at his home on Novem-
ber 28 following a lengthy illness.
Surviving are his wife, the former
Helen Mae Hess, with whom he
celebrated his 55th wedding anni-
versary on August 18; a son, Bruce,
of Benton RD 3; daughters, Mrs.
Ronald Keller, RD 1, Stillwater;
Mrs. E. Lee Remley, RD 1, Benton;
eight grandchildren; six great-
grandchildren.
Services were held December 1
from Strausser’s Home for Funer-
als, Benton, with Rev. David Plank
of the Benton United Methodist
Church officiating. Interment,
Hanover Green Cemetery.
JOSEPH YENASON
Joseph F. Yenason, 79 Parrish St.,
Dallas, died November 30 at NPW
Medical Center, Plains Township.
Surviving are his wife, the former
Isabel Sabbatini, formerly of
Wilkes-Barre; sons, Joseph
Michael, of Trucksville and John
Anthony, of Dallas; a daughter,
Mrs. Roy Huggins, of Dallas; two
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
December 3 from the Yeosock
Funeral Home, Plains Township,
with a Mass of Christian Burial in
Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas.
Interment, Sacred Heart Cemetery,
Dallas.
LOUISE ARMBRUSTER
Louise C. Armbruster, of 158
Staub Road, Trucksville, died
December 1 in Wilkes-Barre Gen-
eral Hospital.
Surviving are sisters, Mrs. Joseph
Jones, Trucksville; MRs. Carl Rut-
cosky, Cherry Hill, N.J.; Mrs.
Robert Spagnola, Miners Mills;
brother, Fred, Wilkes-Barre; 25
nieces and nephews; 16 great-nieces
and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held
today at 9:30 a.m. from the Simon
S. Russin Funeral Home, 136 Maffet
St., Plains, with a Mass of Christian
Burial in St. Therese Church at 10
a.m. Interment in St. Mary’s Ceme-
tery, Hanover Townhip.
